Title: Barrel Stout Label
Post by: lordstilton on December 01, 2013, 01:35:57 PM
Folks,
A friend of mine is a fairly talented graphics designer. She has offered to design a label for me in return for a few bottle of good homebred.  I was thinking if most people were going to bottle the stout it might be nice to get a good label designed,  club logo and the likes incorporated. We could donate two bottles each and get a professionally designed label.. What ye think? We'd probably have to print them ourselves.

like the Liffey Brewers logo on there. Can the be extracted from that label?

The label dimensions are 90x90mm as I intend to put it on 33cl bottles. Based on the rate the alcohol is increasing I'm even more certain it's not going in pint bottles now!

I'll get the alcohol adjusted closer to bottling to reflect the ABV at that time. I can share the PDF then for anybody that wants to print off some for their own bottles.

I recommend colour laser printer for this as the print is a wax and wont run when it gets wet.

+1
Got the logo extracted see attached. my designer has informed me that the font used for the barrel was wood effect and so it probably doesn't make sense beyond the barrel project. She threw a couple of similar ones in the same format as examples.

I noticed the brewdog style second one she suggested. I have been known to have the occasional bottle. Power of suggestion!  :D

How about elimination? Middle one is one I like least.

First one has wood grain on it. It could be removed if it was chosen I suppose.

Is that done in photoshop? If you stick up the file I can flute around with different fonts if you want?

If not, I'd go with 1 - 2 - 3 in order, but I think 1 should be kept for barrel stuff cos ofthe wood as it will be used again in the future

Good job Missus iMark :)

Yeah. would be cool to keep the barrel logo for our barrel projects. I might see if I can get a lambic/sour theme too.

It's Illustrator vector files she's used. Have you got that?

She knocked them up fairly quickly last night as a few suggestions. I think she plans on doing a bit more tweaking. Is there anything else we wanted while I have her doing this? eg. tag-lines, format for printing on merch etc?

I have illustrator myself and might even have indesign so the vector file is useful to me.

Apologies on the delay. Mrs has been very busy the last few days. It's not forgotten! I'll see if she can do something with it tonight.

I know what you mean but I think there might be an issue with border-less printing on some printers.
Do you have a guillotine btw?

Way I asked for it was 90x90ml I think. Once you trim off the outer frame it's just a matter of splitting up. ie. no internal trimming. Don't know if I've enough credits to go back with a change request at this stage
