My experience with CustomBIAB has not been good at all.
Paid the €5.00 on 13/9/2014 (Deposit)
Paid the €32.35 on 4/10/2014 (Remaining Amount for BIAB and 2 Hops Bags)
Still have not recieved anything from them. Apparently it was shipped and I never received it.
On 19/11/2013 Eoin messaged me to say another one would be shipped and I'd have it in about a week. That was 4 weeks ago.
Neither Eoin or the website contact will reply to any mail I sent. Paypal cannot do anything as it exceeds 45 days.
Be warned.
Sorry to hear that CavanMan.
I have not heard of any bad experiences to date with CustomBIAB.
Does anyone have Eoins phone number? Maybe give him a shout?
I'm sure there's is a genuine reason for this.
So am i right in that their are no slots available? Ive been looking to get them for the last few weeks but no slots are available.
Ive dealt with them with no hassles at all.
I got a grain bag and a hop bag - the grain bag recently did 11kg of grain in a RIS Recipe, so theres no problem wih quality if product either.
Nice touch with the personalised grain bag too, couldnt resist it ;)
I paid for my order in full on 12th November. On the invoice it said It would be posted within 3 weeks. Emailed on December 6th asking for an update...heard nothing. I understand this is a side business and everybody is busy coming up to christmas, but an email to say the order is delayed etc. would put peoples mind's at ease. It's a shame because by all accounts the bags are very good.
At this stage I just want a refund. I have no confidence in them to be honest.
QuoteI have no confidence in them to be honest.
I wouldn't go that far. Many people have had no problems at all. I wont be brewing until after Christmas now anyway, although I did order an all grain kit from hbc soon after I ordered the bag. Its all still sealed up in the shed so should be alright for another while. Still...a simple email or message on here would be nice.
At this point I am waiting 3 months since I paid the deposit, and 9 weeks since I paid in full for the products. Not good at all to be honest
Cavanman leaves out the bit where he was sent on proof of posting and I kindly offered despite the terms and conditions saying that if you don't register the postage that we don't guarantee delivery.
We're a home business, we have always always always delivered the product.
We've had a few problems at home, I fell off my bike and bruised my ribs about the time I said a week, this put pressure on my wife...
Your replacement bag is made, but we've just had our eldest out of surgery last week and we have a screaming 7 year old on morphine at home so things have slipped again.
It'll be posted out.
If you wish I will post the proof of purchase to the forum here so everyone can see it.
I apologise to anyone waiting on a bag, there are a few circumstances beyond our control.
The stuff will all be made and dispatched, I mean I could just say no, you had your proof of purchase and you didn't pay for registered post, but I'm nice like that and I have always taken a customers word for it when a bag didn't turn up, customers normally cut me some slack too as I am normally visible here, I just don't post here anymore and visit it very rarely so sorry about that.
The work will all be done, and cavanmans is already done I just need to get some time away from illness and sick kids to post it.
You will have your bag early next week and I will enclose the original proof of posting with it.
Eoin
Regarless of proof of postage, that mean nothing.
I paid for an item, I haven't got it. It's my responsibility to ensure you get paid on time (which I did). It's your responsibility
to ensure I get the goods I paid for. If you decide to ship it via an untracked and uninsured methods that is not my concern.
There is no option of you site to pick different methods or postage.
If you would like to say no to a replacement that is up you but it will damage your business more than it will damage my wallet.
I'm sorry about the issue that arose at home but a simple email to people waiting on orders would have solved everything.
I'll leave it with you, if I receive my items well and good and if I don't well I'll chalk it up to a bad experience and order one elsewhere.
Thanks for the reply
I was both delighted and surprised by the high quality of the bag I got from them, and thought of them to be very professional in their dealing with me. I know that they have had many other happy customers on this forum. It is as they say a family business and sometimes when bad things arrive at your door they have a habit of arriving in a gang. Sorry to hear of your poor experience Cavanman, but my feeling would be to cut them a bit of slack, you've made your point.
I sent a couple contact requests from the website asking about when new slots would be available, but no replies to any. Strange that this post gets a reply within a day...
Ultimately I got sick of waiting and ordered my bag elsewhere.
Just saying.
There seems to be a few people that are a tad annoyed.
Have you guys got kids?
Have you had sick kids?
Seriously lads, cut the man some slack.
'Just saying' is no different from saying 'I don't care' in this instance.
johnrm, that's complete rubbish.
Up until the message from Eoin this morning no one knew about any personal issues,
and no one is saying it is not a genuine reason.
Futher more, I have kids, and I have had sick kids and this has nothing to do with
anyone not respecting Eoin's right to look after his kids and tell us all to p**s off.
I also run my own business and not replying to customer mail or posting a notification
on their website or facebook page only leads to misunderstanding.
I think the admin should close this topic as people are starting to talk complete crap now.
I can see both sides of this. Eoin send the package, but it didn't arrive.
This is why we don't use the postal service much these days. Even packages properly weighed and then stamped in the post office just vanish far too regularly. And registered post is very expensive.
Customers sometimes get annoyed that we have to charge for couriers instead of just posting small items like a yeast sachet. But reading the above, I'm glad we stuck to our guns!
Just expressing my opinion.

Sorry but i agree with JohnRm,kids come first everything else is irrelevant even other relations etc, that's just the way it is(yes i do have a young son).
While they could have handled it better perhaps he did us a favour telling us a personal fact nobody had a right to know even the Op that bought the BIAB off him,and given that we know this now i'm sorry but your plight is irrelevant in comparison to Eoin's and his child. :o
Eoin i suggest get a biab down by courier to the OP and get this closed off,or else return the money and be done with it for your own sake, you have better things to be stressing about.
To the OP i feel your pain and i would react likewise, however the situation with the kiddy is the one exception to all my rules, you have received a reasonable explanation i believe,Eoin is one of the few vendors on here not to be mentioned of late so cut him some slack,i am sure you will g ;Det your bag or be refunded soon.
Why should a shop be held responsible for An Posts ineffiecency(or worse)?
Remember that the standard way to get out of speeding ticket (from a camera) is to claim the letter never arrived!.
The judge will ask you something like "So you live at #3 Rillington Place, do you ever get miss-addressed mail?"
Answer: "Yes your honour, I sometimes get letters addressed to #3 Rillington Close/Parade/w.h.y, and I always hand deliver them"
Judge: "Case dismissed" (If the state can't be arsed to register a summons WTF should we accept the fine when its down to An Post
[With apologies to Cahal_Brewer]
I was going to mention an Post, but couldn't be arsed. Thanks for filling in Will!
This thread is now on my ignore list.
This isn't about the wife, the husband, the family man, the father of sick kids.
But about the business. It's a side business, and I am sure everyone understands that things might take some time.
But a side business is still a business all the same. Money is taken in exchange for a service.
In my opinion there seems to be a lack of communication with customers, which is never good for any company.
Regarding missing shipments, maybe offer registered post only. Just a tip.
Will_D, really, we've gone from a package not turning up to suggestions that we don't give a s**t about sick kids. And know you have the bottle to suggest that I'm trying to pull some type of scam which I can only assume you are saying I got the package and am claiming I didn't.
I think it is time to give this thread a miss cause the verbal diarrhea is starting to flow.
Good luck.

Because they chose to use them. If you sell things online and don't want people putting off other customers on forums you need to make sure your products reach the customer when you've taken their money. CustomBIAB has an issue with An Post, there shouldn't be an issue with the customer.
I had some amazon orders go missing in the post this week. Amazon offered full refund or to resend (what they had). That keeps people using their service and not complaining about them online. Obviously it's easier for them to put pressure on An Post, etc but there seems to have been a massive communication problem here too.
Lads we need to cool it a bit. I think its fair to say that Eoin dropped the ball on this by poor communication. I am very sorry to hear of his mishaps with the kids and health issues and hope all is well now. :)
On issues of the post going missing I have received 5 flexi torches from JML and sent to my parcel motel address. Some other Dempsey is gonna be pissed :)

Of course they should, if you order something from Amazon or ebay etc and it doesn't arrive, do you just go "ah well, not their fault"
I did arrange to collect an item from this company as they live near me in D15. Don't think I paid any deposit but haven't heard anything back. Pretty terrible at running a business but I don't think it is one
Read my post!
That's the way unregistered/untracked/untraced normalm mail works!
An Post/ Royal Mail bear no responsability for lost item UNLESS you register/insure or whatever!
That is why the couriers services are driving the national postal services out of business. Next day deliver for up to 30 kgs for €6
Please read the T's & C's of the national postal systems!

This made me chuckle. Not that you're wrong of course, it's just a strange exclamation.

Eoin, by any chance did you get time to post this. If not could you kindly arrange a refund and I'll order one elsewhere.
Where else are you thinking of ordering?

Get'er Brewed apparently have larger bags now, ones that will properly fit the pico boilers
Im looking for one for my large mash tun. Pity most seem to be for boiler (which is understandable). I bought thay extra large one and it didnt fit. Annoying homebrewshops and the packages themselves give no measurements.
Bag arrived today. Thanks a million Eoin
Everyone loves a happy ending.
Got mine on Monday. Perfect fit. Haven't used it yet but quality looks very good. Cheers Eoin and Mareth
Hi Eoin, i try from here...bought a custombiab slot 29 november 2014. Still not received some feedback or an answer to my 3 emails. Homebrew is an hobby, not a game or joke. Like side business must be. I REALLY know that life isn't a straight line, but 2 seconds to reply isn't a real effort. Cheers, enjoy my 5 euro, but quit to do a thing that you don't be able to manage.
