Title: Melon, Pineapple and Clementine Champagne
Post by: LordEoin on December 18, 2013, 04:04:57 PM
at 5 cent for a bag of clementines, a melon or a pineapple in Aldi, I was thinking that maybe:

3 melons
1 pineapple
4 clemtines
Total cost of fruit 30cent

All mashed or chopped rough, covered in a gallon of boiling water with 1kg sugar.
Leave cool down, add Champagne yeast. Cover loosely.
Stir daily for a week, then strain into a demijohn.
Ferment out, rack, leave til 3 months, rack, prime, bottle, age.

Any thoughts?

That sounds a great combo for early summer drinking.

At that price for the ingredients go for it!

Ditto!

Am just about to defrost my rose hips!

Hard won btw. About 100ml of blood per kilo is a fair assessment of harvesting the thorny little critters!

very true, you come away from picking rosehips looking like you've just spent the day farming kittens...
