Lads, what size cooler box would you need to make a homemade mash tun? Where do you buy them?
Paul
I think ~40L is the norm. Coleman are popular. I've a 10gal igloo cooler myself. Plenty of threads on here about options
Snoop under equipment.
Thanks, o mearas seem to be the best.

Got mine in O'Mearas...36L one....20 quid.
Shearys is just across the road too for a lovely scoop ;D
If you want a mash tun that'll last you a long time, a coleman extreme is a good buy.
Got mine on Amazon.

€20 is a great price. Does it hold heat ok?
I got the cheap one from O'Mearas and converted it.
On its own it will drop around 4-5 degrees in an hour but I wrap it in an old duvet and the drop over an hour isn't measurable on my thermometer.
I would recommend it.

A lot of the cheaper coolers will just have a sheep of poly foam in the walls. You can take it apart and add an extra layer or 2 of tinfoil which helps. I did this withy first mash tun and found it made some difference. Also if it comes apart do the same with the lid.
Hope it helps. Enjoy.
