Title: Bramling X pale ale
Post by: admin on December 18, 2012, 10:13:06 PM
Just had a taste of this. It's still at 1.020 so has a bit to go.

But holy crap. Why would anyone buy citra (they're probably cheaper)? Fruity or what! I won't know what to expect till the gravity has dropped more and there's a bit of carbonation, but I was not expecting this!

Here's the recipe. Will dry hop with 70g eventually.

Amount        Item                                      Type         % or IBU
4.00 kg       Pale Malt (2 Row) UK (5.9 EBC)            Grain        64.52 %
1.50 kg       Munich Malt (17.7 EBC)                    Grain        24.19 %
0.20 kg       White Wheat Malt (4.7 EBC)                Grain        3.23 %
70.00 gm      Bramling Cross [6.00 %]  (60 min)         Hops         43.2 IBU
70.00 gm      Bramling Cross [6.00 %]  (20 min)         Hops         26.1 IBU
70.00 gm      Bramling Cross [6.00 %]  (0 min)          Hops          -
0.50 kg       Dememera Sugar (3.9 EBC)                  Sugar        8.06 %
1 Pkgs        Safale American  (DCL Yeast #US-05)       Yeast-Ale

Looks nice  ;)
I'm like yerself and think Bram X is a great hop. I think I read somewhere that when it first came out years ago it was looked down on as being inferior to the likes of Goldings.
