Title: Hello
Post by: k_dermot on January 02, 2014, 10:04:45 PM
Hello everyone,

Just got my first beer kit for Christmas - its the Coopers DIY kit. Been thinking of brewing for a while and visited the site a few times before. Hope to get some useful advice over the next few brews.

All the best,

Dermot

Hi Dermot, welcome to the club. As LordEoin says, the Cooper's DIY kit is a great place to start. Have a look at http://www.nationalhomebrewclub.com/forum/index.php/topic,669.0.html - it might give you a few tips.

Whereabouts in the country are you based?

Welcome to the forum Dermot. I got that same kit this time last year. I'm on brew number 32 now  :o So be careful, it's an addictive hobby you're getting yourself into  :P

What beer did you get with it.

Thanks for the welcome lads. I'm based in Derry. See we have a local club but there doesn't seem to be too much activity on the subforum.

I got the larger mix with the kit. Hoping to get it going this weekend. Any recommendations about sanitiser? Coopers kit say to use a weak bleach mix and I'm not so sure as I would imagine there could be odors or tastes from it?

I'm already thinking about my second brew and I plan to do a pale ale - my favourite. Do you think the coopers pale ale kit is any good or should I try something else?
