Title: CB new home
Post by: Rossa on January 06, 2014, 05:42:17 PM
With the terrible news of wjk's closing its doors, where will the meet ups be held
(not that I make that many but I'm there in spirit)?

I know Farringtons have been good to us. I know Geoff would had also said he might do something with the community in the future...perhaps a roving venue might be an idea...
Share the love etc.

I was thinking about this already. I was leaning towards farringtons [not sure how busy they are weekdays] and if they could not the B&C as they are more central. unless anyone wants to make any other suggestions.

yea i could not see it being a regular thing most people would have to get a bus, most likely 2, each way.

B&C would be your cheaper option, plus they have cask.

I'd throw in a vote for The Brew Dock. I'll miss Kavanagh's but it was a long walk from the Dart, I haven't been to a meeting since I started the new job as there wasn't enough time for me to get home, eat and make it back in there. Brew Dock is very well located for trains, trams, buses and planes (747 from the airport to Talbot St).

Farrington's is great too, I'd definitely row in behind that as a second option. Wouldn't go for the B&C, already have the Beoir meet there every month, I'd like to visit somewhere else.

Would a moveable feast work?
B&C, Farringtons, brew dock, Church, headline, black sheep. Two meet ups each a year. Spread the business.

I like Rossa's idea to rotate around a bit. I also think the odd CB trip to another club HQ could be great craic.

You would all be more than welcome in the Boro, Swords.

Just let me know so I can book the big room in case!

The snug is very snug with 20 in!

If we do the rotational thing we could also throw sweetmans into the mix

Rotation sounds good, although you can barter for benefits if you guarantee a group of you'se into the same pub every month.

Would Mulligan's in Stoneybatter be too far from the centre? CARA was telling me the beer engines from WJK will be going in there.

No space to accommodate us there unfortunately

Terrible news about Kavanagh's, sorry to hear it lads, sorry Declan :-(

Any of the city centre pubs mentioned sound great for our meetings, looking forward to the next one! Could we do it upstairs in Farringtons and then see if we come up with a better option?

Roaming option sounds good too, especially visiting other clubs for their meetings

This could be an option in addition to a monthly meetup...

JW Sweetmans might be an option. Plenty of space.

A good relationship with Sweetman's could be great. Imagine if you were stuck for ingredients and could call in get a handful of hops or a vial of yeast at a cheap price.
