Thinking of getting a 23L corny and a spunding valve and fermenting under pressure.
Anyone recommend anything other than a corny that I could use?

Err, Why??
I think i've seen that in messrs alright.
No, but I think its a great idea.
I had a chat with Peter in the Well about it.
Apparently it works well when you know your indredients and specially yeast.
You need to cap your brew at a particular time.
Makes sense to do it in a Corny, the only thing is you're fermenting in the Corny, you're probably going to push up a lot of yeast with the first pint or so.
You could crash cool your primary, rack to Corny and complete the ferment here.
It seems to be called spunding http://byo.com/stories/projects-and-equipment/article/indices/20-build-it-yourself/400-build-your-own-spunding-valve-to-carbonate-in-the-keg
Yes, I also talked with Peter about this. As John pointed out, last few points of fermentation is done in airtight conditions. Never heard of it being done in a corny though. Interesting.
@Cambrinus, OT, Are you kegging or bottling? I'm kegging (Very few bottles)
From that link...
Is that not a regular ball-lock valve?
(It looks like gas-in but with a gas-out collar)
Why 23L and not 19L?
Your brew is not going to care what vessel its in.
Some of the un approved hdpe water containers are pressure tested up to about 30 psi. Might be worth fitting a valve to one of those for a laugh.
Why not borrow a 30 L keg ::).
Would you not be as well to do primary and when its at about 1015 - transfer it to the cornie to finish the job and get your carbonation ?
At least you avoid having all that gunk at the bottom of your cornie.
FYI - I tried it in december - almost by acciden - I moved my Hefeweiss too early, but I have to say it all was a PITA as the yeast blocked the out tube.
You could always get one of those pressure barrels and brew in that - ie - the 'king keg'.
You could always lie your corny on its side...
