Grand day for it!
Was lovely earlier - but now Ughh!
Tube...you got everything you need to syphon and refill barrel? Need me to bring anything?
This stout is epic! Enjoy the spoils gentlemen (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/26/3avy4ata.jpg)
Mark it agree! It's smooth 8)
Is that a springbok?
Good spoting, but no. It's an oryx😁. Has some significance with me
And I was about to ask about carved map of Africa?
You see when I take a picture I always include other items of importance!
Like holidays in Kenya :)
What carbonation level did you go for??
Well I just connected mine and cranked up the co2 to get something in there. I will check to see what level to carb it to. Maybe 2 volumes
Didn't take a reading. Will do this evening though.
I'm going to carbonate mine to 2.3vols over the next few days. I'll see if I can get a beer gun before then and bring a bottle to the competition in LC on Saturday.
@Dodge...Thanks for the beers. Delicious framboise but sadly the barley wine bottle hadn't carbonated. Dodgy bottle!
You can take a lend of mine.. I can bring it down Saturday or meet you during the week if you want it before then.. My barley wine was the same. Tasted pretty good flat though
Sound! I'll pm you about getting it.
Gents it's fair to say we created something wonderful in that barrel.. Scrumdidlyumptious
lukin fward to gettin mine back :)

The bottle you gave me was fine. Really enjoyed it. Thanks...
Stout was fab. really enjoyed my taster. Just need to carb and bottle the lot. Barley wine was bottle conditioned so those that had extra time in the warmth got better carb than those moved out the house early. Sorry for those that had ones not carbed properly :(
@ Lordstilton, I didn't ask for labels but when I saw them they were fantastic and turbomyces gave me some of his. Sorry ::)
No problem I'll bring some down sat
Stanley knife?
have we settled on a cleaning schedule for the barrel?
Saw this article on barrel sanitation. http://byo.com/component/k2/item/948-keeping-it-clean (http://byo.com/component/k2/item/948-keeping-it-clean)
Looks like a solution of citric acid and patassium metabisulfite is the way to go.
Couldn't find the potassium metabisulfite to buy. Homebrew suppliers were saying sodium metabisulfite was same thing but I had read that the sodium left a residue. ???

Hadn't spotted this. One tsp is 5g, so 250g of CA and 375g of PM for 200L! ???
Just like Bleach and Vinegar DO NOT Mix together concentrated solutions of these two chemicals. You could well damage your lungs.
Be very careful how you dissolve the metabisulphite as as again it will give off enough SO2 to upset the old brochials.
Anybody know where we can get potassium metabisulfite?

Hadn't spotted the one in homebrewwest...out of stock atm.
I thought the sodium left a residue but maybe I confused it with the residual sodium? ???
If there is no residue off either...and it will be getting dumped then it's not an issue I guess.
