Just wondering if there is anybody on the forum from Louth. Im based in Dundalk. Just thinking it might be handy to know some homebrewers in the area. Could be good for group buy participation / distribution, help on brew days, swap hops / malts / experience, that kind of stuff.
Hi,
I am from Cooley, so only out the road.
I also have a mate who does a bit of brewing.
Would be handy knowing another couple of brewers in the area
B4B "if you build it..."
3 seems a good enough place to start. I know 2 others in Drogheda, have been trying to encourage them on to the forum but maybe a club in the area would be more encouragement.
Is there a procedure for setting up a club.
When you set up a club you can have it listed here so members can link quickly to it for club things :)
Well then I propose the set up of Wee County Brewers. Once we get a few members interested we can look at more permanent names and decide what were about.
Congrats. Just hope some of our north county brewers from up that neck of the woods don't decide to jump ship with our barrel of barley wine ;)
Thanks but I'm sure your members are loyal. It would still be good to know who is in the area. Anybody have any experience of setting up a club. Any tips
@B4B, get them on here with a few posts first, then a Board can be added.

Hi Cronan, only getting a chance to respond properly now that im home from work and the child is gone to bed. Im just south side of the town, out past the college. Cooley's a nice area. I go walking up Carlingford direction a bit. What kind of brewing you in too.
I am into all grain biab method. Not brewing too long just started in March last year with kits.
What about yourself what kind of brewing?
Only starting all grain, going to get my first all grain brew on at the weekend. A friend and i have just finished building our set up based on a braumeister Its been frustrating as hell but very enjoyable. Been doing allot of reading. Have been doing kits and hedgerow brews up until now, started in college when funds were tight and never looked back.
You don't have a cousin in Cork by any chance? :D
Not that im aware of, why?
The mad lad in Kanturk?
Get the impression im missing something.
There is a chap in Kanturk who spends an unheatlhy amount of time rummaging in bushes but produces some of the finest wines in the land.
Was starting to worry there was a more sinister implication going on. Its hard to beat free hedgerow wine but only occasional.
If its organic, with or without a heartbeat, he can make alcohol out of it :)
And its pretty fine to boot.
Now who could that be :)
Sounds like he hasbeen at it a long time. Wife got me the new river cottage handbook on homebrew at christmas has a lot of nice looking recipes. Just ordered a mead yeast yesterday to get a batch on for next Christmas. Going to try and get some good local honey if I can.
Is there any chance of getting a Wee County Brewers Board put up to let people know there are a few people on here from the area. There is definitely 3 of us on here. it would just save me having to bump this thread every few days and make it easier to find us, especially if we direct somebody to the the forum. Only if its a quick thing to do and not to much hassle.
Hi Guys. I live in Ardee. My focus is to finish getting my gear set up and functioning. Once real life takes a snooze I might actually get a brew on. A local club would be great though. Sean
I agree - living in Navan myself, so Dundalk be a bit far for me.
Quite surprised there isn't one in Louth/Meath
Just giving this a bump. Might be worth starting a potential members list.

@B4B, pick an pub with an open minded view. Talk to the staff, get them on side. Put up a few A4 posters, make sure you put one up in the local chipper.
Make sure you mention free beer samples. You'll have a club in no time.
