Title: Magnums Pear Cider Kit
Post by: Greg2013 on February 03, 2014, 09:24:41 AM
I put this down yesterday evening(the carboy incident), used the kit + 1.5kg brown sugar(i like the flavour) and it is bubbling away rather slowly as of this morning. I added 2 tsp yeast nutrient to the carboy and i thought i would have a more vigorous fermentation going by this morning, there is activity but not as much as what i was expecting. Never measured the quantity of water i added but its up to where the neck of the carboy begins to curve in so i reckon about 20 litres ? I got a starting gravity of 1045, what should i expect this to drop to with the kit yeast/sweeetner packet that comes with this kit ?

Anybody that has done this kit before comment please on how it went and what results you got or tips you may have. ;D

cant give any advise yet on taste but the fermenting started quite late too.. after 3 day saw the first bubbles in my airlock. But i did see a lot of foam activity on top of the brew so i knew it was allright :).. Mine has still 3/4 days to go in primary and then i will rack it off.
