Hi all. I've been lurking here for a while now and have really learned a lot. I'm currently in the middle of trying to upgrade my equipment. I bought some 1/2" BSP ball valves on ebay a while ago. I have read some stuff about lead etc. in the brass valves. The ones I got are nickel plated brass (I think!) They say they are WRAS approved on the handle so apparently they are safe for potable water?
Are they ok to use or should I sell them and go stainless? Do people use the NPT fittings? They are so much cheaper and there seems to be a lot more options for barbs and quick disconnects etc. I'm tempted to just sell them and go for the stainless NPT fittings on ebay.

They are fine. If you do go stainless then you must have plenty of money :). NPT is more popular in the US where as BSP fittings is what you will get in supply stores here so if you plan on NPT gear you will have to do all your needs in it. Oh and welcome by the way :)
Thanks DEMPSEY.

I found a Chinese ebay seller selling cheap stainless NPT fittings though. Very tempted as I'm starting from scratch so I could go all NPT The free shipping on most things sweetens the idea too
