Post by: nigel_c on February 28, 2013, 10:59:19 AM
Got to brew yesterday. I've been building up some Hoegaarden yeast the last few weeks and used this for the batch. Took off like a rocket.

WitBier 22L
OG 1.051
IBU 11
Hoegaarden yeast starter

Lager Malt 2.65 Kg
Wheat Malt 2.50 Kg
Vienna Malt 0.25 Kg
Torrified Wheat 0.35 Kg

Magnum 5g @ 60
Perle 15g @ 10

Crushed coriander seed 20g @ 5min
Sweet Orange peel 20g @ 5 min

Looks nice! Could I brew a witbier with half irish pale malt or marris otter & half flaked wheat? Or do I need a pilsner malt?

Edit: Did some more googling. MO not suitable for wit.

Mine is in secondary at the moment. WLP400 stinks so bad. Its defo not a beer to be sniffing during fermentation.
