Title: Handy way of determining where the cooling pipes are in a fridge
Post by: admin on February 12, 2014, 08:28:41 PM
i.e. side, top, bottom, back.

Tape the button that seems to operate the internal light into position so that the light stays off. Leave the door open and watch what walls frost up. The ones that don't have no pipes.

(The button is connected to the thermostat and also prevents the compressor from coming on much when the door is open)

If you have bypassed the thermostat just leave the door open and watch what walls frost up. Again, the ones that don't have no pipes.

Even quicker: All modern fridges self defrost. The wall that has the drain at the bottom is the only one with pipes.

Clever tube.... As it happened I left my door slightly open yesterday and did notice the frost on my back wall.... None on the sides...
