Howra lads!
seeing as Im now an 'expert' brewer (fecked up one kit) I decided to go all grain for my next attempt! I bought a http://www.homebrewwest.ie/brupaks-mashkit-bavarian-weissbier-3044-p.asp (http://www.homebrewwest.ie/brupaks-mashkit-bavarian-weissbier-3044-p.asp) brupak mash kit, and am going to try and 'boil in a bag' it :)
I cant seem to find clear instruckions for this kit, the ones that come with it are a tad confusing for me, Im guessing that the single temp infusion would be the way forward with biab?
can anyone give me a few (simple) hints on what to do/not to do?
also thinking of brewing this at work (an industrial kitchen) and using the no chill method to bring the wort home and ferment it at home? any good/bad indifferent thoughts on this theory?
Cheers lads
I would try another kit or 2 at home to allow you to cut your teeth in the basic requirements of fermentation and how to package your beer etc.
You could try this, fail miserably and give up on the whole idea of brewing :(
hmmm that does reek of sense all right! :-X
On the other hand... be a man. Go for it!
What have you got to lose?
If it fails, then retreat with your tail between your legs.
THIS...IS...SPARTA!!!!
+1 On what CH said, don't rush in to all grain, i tried a BIAB last year after only doing 3 kits and bollixed it up and as a results almost threw in the towel with brewing, my advice as a beginner myself, get at least 4 successful kit brews under your belt first and then let rip. ;D

ye both make sense.... but I have the grains.... and a bag.....loads of empty bottles .... and no patience (i might order another kit+kilo and do that too, I have an extra fermenting bucket) >:D
Where you based Punchy? You might be able to go along to a local club meetup and brew it under supervision of experienced brewers there?

Real men don't brew vinegar, they brew beer, if you want a quick result, recreational drugs are the way to go.

Patience = one of the most important ingredients in beer
Kilo = a Kg of DME way better than sugar
A few kits, even the 2 can / 3kg all malt extract ones, with good temperature control (constant & stable) and very good sanitising method will give you great beer, once left 4-6 weeks in bottle, after a 2 week ferment.
Then go all grain and definitely BIAB ,the best way anyway ;-).
;D ;D
cheers for the reply's lads
I might hold off on the all grain attempt for a bit :-X
would the grains go stale in the bucket? (was perhaps a bit premature purchasing)

What gear do you have to Brew in a bag? To make 23L of beer, you are going to need a 40L brew kettle.

I use the no chill method myself, you will need airtight plastic HDPE water containers. However once you are done in work, these will likely be too hot to carry into your car (but they will be fine to collect the next day, as long as your work colleagues are okay with this).
No chill however will completely alter your hopping schedule. You have to calculate all your late hop additions as if they had at 15minutes more in the kettle. I have recently been dumping flavour/aroma hops directly into the cube before the hot wort goes in, and it is working out pretty well, but a bit messy. For lightly hopped beers this isn't a problem.
I kinda got bored last night and went for the THIS IS SPARTA school of brewing, got a big pot from me sister and went for it! tis fermenting at the mo, if it turns into drinkable beer I'll write up what i did, if you like the idea of really simple brewing with little or no equipment (or intelligence), you will like it id say. be warned those who are purists will not like it, or even consider it 'brewing', but if Im happy with the results, Im happy(ish) with the process! 8)
Ya bold fecker.
Let is know how our turns out.
will do lad!
very little confidence but sure it might surprise me! tis all a learning process!
