Got this y-day
QuoteHi Folks,
We're holding the third Home Brewers Cup in association with National Homebrew Club on Sunday April 27th. The Event kicks off at 6.30pm. The event will follow the same format as last time. There will be four judges following the BJCP judging criteria. All entries will be required to enter their beers via email to myself by Thursday April 23rd. Entry is free. Maximum of 3 beers per person and you need to be there on the night. The following details will be required:
Name:
Email:
Style of Beer(s)
Although every effort will be made to seriously assess and judge each beer, I do stress as always the point of the competition is more about getting a lot of avid homebrewers and beer enthusiasts in the same room for the evening. All of you here entered before so hopefully you can make it down again and will spread the word with anybody else that may be interested in entering a beer.
Oh and if you need some inspiration last years winners Cathal and Emma have now gone to start up their own brewery :-)
Cheers
All interested please contact ->Ian (ian@bodytonicmusic.com)<-

As is 24th a Thursday!
Should have gone to specsavers:
They said Sunday 27th!!
He's referring to the part where it says:

Yes there will be 4 judges. Same as last year except registered this time.
Posted this in answer to a question on Beoir but I felt it will be useful here.
It says you are supposed to be there on the night. This is not great for people outside of Dublin.
Answer to that is:
QuoteRight, good news. You don't have to be there on the night personally. It's just that the beer needs to arrive that night. They are not storing beer.
So just nominate someone who will be there on the night and get your beer to them. As long as they show up that night it will be fine.
South Kildare will be there :) again... we love the place! Great venue for a small comp and nice way to spend a sunday ( again!) Looking forward to it
Hi lads, just wondering what info needs to be on each bottle and how many bottles per entry are needed?
Cheers

If you have already mailed me your beers no need to mail them again, however if you have any changes mail them, will make things run smoother on the night.

And it's four bottles of beer required - no size announced, but presume 4 x 500 ml.
first I heard of " four bottles"
we aint got 4 bottles of our entries
last twisted comps were 1 r 2 bottles
I haven't heard of 4 bottles either. It's always two bottles. One for initial judging and a second for best of show. Leftovers go to the audience.
It was always 3 or 4 bottles as far as I remember.
You're probably right; I was just quoting from this
http://www.beoir.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=10252
which was posted by the Twisted Pepper.
Ah, that was last year. If I remember correctly that was on the assumption that they were 330ml.
I think ideally he wants 3x500ml or 4x330ml so that there's enough for the audience to taste but it's not a deal breaker.
Cool. I wasn't too hot on the idea of giving away 4 X 500ml bottles of fresh IPA!
2013 was 1.5 litres. http://www.beoir.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=9578
2012 was 2 litres. http://www.beoir.org/community/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=8937
we have two bottles ready of each our entries in bottle conditioned format.. we can try to bring some extra from the keg....
we are not entering any beers that we entered in the nationals for numerous reasons, so a few new beers that we hope will give ye a run for your money ;) :) and at the same time make the judges job easier :) and in addition we have new styles that we experimented with
Good stuff.
What were the results of this? Was meant to enter but couldn't make it in this evening
Alex Lawes won with his Russian imperial stout.
Dodge came second with a brilliant Black IPA.
iMark came third with his Double IPA.
And by iMark you mean Dr Jacoby
Ah yeah, sorry Peter. I'm not with it this morning I guess.
No. I didn't take third. Peter did.
Well done to all. Was there many entries?
I think it was near 30.
For our BJCP judges, assuming Ian did do the whole BJCP registration thing, can you find your number and PM me with them please?
Alex, Kevin, Richie and myself.
Shiny took over for Richie about half way through and did BOS with myself and Kevin. Alex of course couldn't do BOS as he was in the final 6.
Another great evening in the pepper, as usual and plenty of drink ( very good drink) on demo. As usual standards high as I recall from previous events.
Very late finish on the last green bus home after 1am and felt it this morning ::)
No prizes for us but we did have a few new styles that we played with including APA and porter, all scored well and our bottled conditioned beers had a rough ride to the event due to the M7 being closed we had to travel an hour on backroads.
Average score from our South Kildare (6) entries close on 40 so we are happy, very happy. :) :D
This also shows the overall standard was probably superb?
Roll on the next one :)
I thought your Bohemian Pilsner was one of the best beers I tried last night Bren. I know how difficult it is to brew that style well. If I can make it to Kildare on the 17th I hope I'll get to try some more!
Thanks for the compliment peter, and well done on urs...enjoy those few bottles :) :) Tis very difficult to do such a lager...Urquell are tryin for quite a while :)
Very welcome over 17th.will be a great weekend but drop in for an hour, the day or the weekend!
Great night great beers, time seemed to fly in ended up missing last bus.
