Question:
March Meet?

Well lads,
What about meeting this month? Would anyone fancy the Paddy's Day weekend? Could be nice with Monday off work. I'd be up for a Friday or Saturday night.
What does everyone else think?
Works for me! Friday probably the best day to avoid too many Paddy Day Punters though
What does everyone else think?
Hi Iain et al,
Sorry; I should really have been trying to organise something for March before now but work's been seriously getting in the way recently. Even stopped me getting a brew on this week :(
I'm with Chris about having it on the Friday. We were originally thinking of a brew day for March, but venue seems to be an issue so, while we try and sort something out, a wee meet in March would be good.
So it's the 17th then? Would be good if we could get that whiskey bar from the Hudson again. It was well grand :)
Cheers,
-Barry
Good stuff everyone! March is waaay to busy for us so gonna have to miss out. :'(
Hi lads,
I was actually thinking the 14th, as the 17th actually on Paddy's Day could be an absolute mission. Or we could leave it until the next weekend and avoid Paddy's Day shenanigans altogether. What do you think? Friday 21st?
My bad Iain. Meant to say '14th' but forgot to subtract the 3.
We don't get Paddy's day off work and I'm loathe to booking leave just to get suffocated in a crowd of pissed hick students.
-Barry
(for a definition of the word 'hick' just google 'Croke Park', '400,000' and 'Garth Brooks')
So 14th or 21st, Baz?
Ah balls. Just realised the missus is out on the 14th, so can't do that night anyway.
21st get's my vote but I guess that's kinda after the fact.
-Barry
21st still grand for me...gonna make this one...and may even have a sampler!
Ok so we go for 21st then? Do we need to let the Hudson know?
21st for me lads, hopefully we can get the whiskey lounge with those sweet leather sofas again
Yeah I'd say the plastic Paddys will be out in force this weekend sampin shackin.
So 21st. What's protocol? Do Matty D or Chrissy T need to contact the Hudson, or can we do it?
Nah anyone can - if you can speak to Fergal there he knows what the craic is!
Ok cool. So 21st March then lads? 19:30 for 20:00?
Here lads I'm gonna book the Hudson for 21st March, 19:30 for 20:00.
Any objections, lemme know by this lunchtime (about 13:30)

Sorry man. Head down with work recently. Yep Sounds good for 21st. Nice one, Iain :)

Sorry too late but sounds good!
Haven't been able to get through to them, but left a message today, so hopefully they'll get back and confirm. Then I can send out the Tweet to all of our 20-odd followers. Gonna be epic.
:P
Finally got round to becoming a full member this morning. Well I've paypaled the money and sent the email. Hope to be at the meet next week even if only for a short time. I have two brews that I need some feedback on that I plan to bring. An experimental Black and a cloudy IPA. :( :(
Good to hear you can make it down, Rory. Like the labels.
-Barry
Bazza have you ever heard the term....."All the gear.....no idea!" That's a bit what it's like but I've come a long way since that rain sodden meeting in Oct or Nov last. The labels only cost me the a bottle of every brew I do thanks to a very good local printer I know.

Fergal was sposed to get back to me but hasn't, so this isn't confirmed yet. Will try again at lunch...
The next day you are having a brewing demo let us know and we'll happily provide the ingredients for a batch of beer from our new all grain brewing section.

Nice offer cheers! Hopefully we'll get one on the go soon...
;D
Hi Iain. Any word back from Fergal?
Cheers,
-Barry

Hi Iain. Any word back from Fergal?
I think he was having problems getting someone to call him back.
Hi lads, yes this has been confirmed. So this Friday, 19:30 - 21:00.
How do I create an event in the main section of the website?
ACH BALLS!!!! Why is my ability to read a calendar so crap??
Can't make it :( You're gonna be booting me out at this rate :P Going to be very sure to check every possible permutation of events for April!

If you log in to the wordpress account there's a calendar section.
I take it I should probably have some login details somewhere then?!
::)
Yeah - it'll be the same as the ones you used to write the article.
Thanks Shane! Didn't know about the 'clone to draft' - every day's a school day!
Jesus lads, sure I'll never remember that!
I'll give it a go
Yeah no idea what my old login deets are. Think I may have just used Matty D's anyway...

Ooooo..... Iain. Compromising our tight security there. Hang your head. You'd get sacked for that sort of thing where I work- if you let on you'd done it, that is.
Annoyingly I've realised I'm on call tomorrow night. So in the 0.1% eventuality of some shitbox server falling over in some backwoods in Hicksville, Kansas, I've to disappear and respond within 30 mins to tell them if switching it off and on again didn't work then I'm all out of ideas, and why don't you get a life and go home; it's bound to be 5pm over there now and therefore the weekend.
Annoyingly (additional) I don't really have any brews to bring. Last thing I brewed was to use up the last of some grain and in a huge oversight I ended up having to resort to US-05 for what was meant to be a full-bodied English style session bitter. The resultant brew reminds me of a glass of diluting orange your granny might give you where it's so diluted it's practically clear. Strictly for home consumption that one.
Still, should be a good night.
-Barry
No worries Baz master. Sure we'll have good fun anyway.I've got a shitload of wine to bring, so we can just drink that. Might have a few nice beers to bring, too though.
Planning a Czech malt, German hops pale beer for the summer - gonna call it 'Kafka'
Just created the event - I take it we're in the Whiskey bar again?
You making it down after all, Chris?
Nah man - unfortunately still won't be able to make it. The in laws are down with us on Friday night!
Sellout
Aye; why not use the old popping out for a pint of milk for the tea and completely forgetting what number house you live in on the way home excuse?
Always fails.

Just have the meet in Chris's house.
Sounds like a plan lads?!
Sounds like it's a party at Shano's this weekend then. Yyyeeeeoooooo!
Nice one. I'll provide the beer. I've 2 cases of lovely Bud just waiting to be lashed into :P
-Barry
So who all's making it tonight?
In terms of card games are we talking Bridge... Cribbage .. Patience ???
-Barry
Other than cards, what's on the agenda?
Here's the old tried, tested but never-used agenda template I normally post for these meets:
1. Homebrew samples & House beer (as much as possible of both)
2. Agree on a date/venue/theme for March April meet (brew build/equipment build, etc - this will determine if next meet is a Friday or a Saturday).
3. Ditto for April May(and MayJune?)
4. Any specific topic you would like help with or would like to share with the group? (post your thoughts or ideas and we'll cover as many as we can at the meet)
5. AOB e.g. anything we could do different regarding club/meets, etc
Worth a try.
-Barry
One request of mine is about beersmith and how to use it properly/effectively.

Good man Andy.

I'm rubbish at this tap talk malarkey. Re above. I have it on laptop with a dodgy battery android phone. I'll bring em both

Daddy's got his special headache today :-[
Good wee night, apart from me falling on me arse at the end and getting escorted out by the bouncers. I blame your gooseberry wine Iain.
-Barry
Glad I made it and put a few more names to avatars. So Bazza. ...The agenda......?
Razzer
Great to meet you gents and thanks for sharing your beers.
The night certainly took off after we got that agenda out of the way!
The other Andy asked me what hops were in my beer - Northern Brewer, Centennial and Amarillo.
Right away to download and have another go at Beersmith!
Tell you what, though, was a bit unimpressed by the 'attitude' I received at one point when I asked that my pint of Jaipur be filled a bit more to something close to the requested volume.
Still, Jaipur on draught. Excellent.
-Barry
Andy. Just saw your post. Glad you enjoyed it and hope that means you'll make it to future meets. The wee IPA was the winner of the night in my opinion.
-Barry
P.s. Rory..... SUAREZ IS GOD!!!
Blah blah......half way line goals rule
Razzer
Blah blah blah Wayne Rooney. Blah blah granny shagging pumpkin-faced ambassador for English football. Given the choice...erm.......
:)
"Glad you enjoyed it and hope that means you'll make it to future meets"
I did enjoy the night, but can't promise to be a regular. A Friday night out is a rarity, and Saturdays are too manic with the kids various sports and social activities - but I'll try! Mind you April looking busy already, what with Easter, etc.
Still can't make my mind up as to what to brew next!
Bottle of Razzer's Better Half Black chillin' for later!
Other Andy reporting in alive.
Lookin forward to the next one fellas!
Cheers for the hop list, Andy.
Yeah was a good night. That ginger wine was rough as eff, wasn't it? Next time I'll have to bring down some actual beer. We'd a good wee night though didn't we?
I think the problem with the agenda is that the first thing on the agenda is "drink a shitload of beer"
I suppose it depends on what we want from the meetings - if we want a sensible, organised meeting with a chair and a bit of order, a seated environment might be more appropriate. As it is, we have it as a bit of a pub setting, which inevitably means it ends up like a pub atmos - everyone splitting into wee groups.
Good night though.
Agreed........surely we could be all growed up and have like minutes and the like but the bloody beer gets in the way. I'm up for the next one and I'd love it to be a brew day.
Razzer
I agree with all the above comments. Although in fairness we did kind of skim close to the agenda at one point, when Rory got the laptop out to look at Beersmith. Don't know if it was much help to you, though.
Yeah, time changes next weekend and we're into the longer (hopefully brighter and warmer) days so a brewday is a good idea. Only thing is, we still need to find a venue. I'm not sure if the Hudson 's the ideal place for it, given all the work they've done out the back. I get the feeling we make them nervous :)
On a completely unrelated note, I'm a tad embarrassed to show my face there for a while. Although I had a bit of a fall, it was due to tripping over a low stool behind me but this, coupled with the fact I'd a lot on board by the end of the night, was enough reason for the bouncers to see us out. I suppose it did look a bad; 2 blokes standing at a table with a shitload of empty beer and wine bottles :-[
So, does anyone have any suggestions on venue/date for a brew day? Like Andy (Quiet Man), April's looking a little congested for me, but May is even worse.
Cheers,
-Barry
Ah, Iain. Only noticed you post about an April meet after responding here.
At some stage over the summer, my house might do for a brew day, but at the moment Tamsin is doing her dissertation for her Masters and so it wouldn't be fair to take over the house for a whole Saturday.
So until the end of May, my house is out...
