Title: jar of malt extract help
Post by: richieh on February 21, 2013, 12:13:56 AM
I normally buy barley malt extract by the jar (for starters and yeast growth etc) from the hippy health food shop at the bottom of George's st, but they had none the other day. Any ideas for city centre?

can't remember offhand, it's probably 3 or 4 e for a jar, like a 440g jar or whatever a normal sized jar is. I only use extract for starting slants, or for making slants, etc. I find that 1 dessert spoon to 200ml makes a wort in and around 1.040

There's a hippy shop in the arcade on Henry street that sells all that stuff. There's also one on Wicklow street I think.

Most health food shops sell it.

What about Holland& Barrett in Ilac centre?

Barley Malt extract and LME are the same thing just one is powder and one is liquid.
