For Free:

Pop down to your local tile store.

Browse over the big floor tiles, make it look like you are interested in them!

Pick a couple of samples.

Say to the gombeen on the counter: "Can I take these home to see if they are what SWMBO likes?"

Never go back!

When home:

Turn upside down in the oven and Voila a pizza stone or two.

Note: They may crack but remember that ceramic floor tiles have been fired at a MUCH higher temp. than your oven

You don't!

I did say "turn upside down". That is the more porous natural terra-cota/clay stuff side that you cook on!!

I think 'tother glazed/decorated side doesn't factor

Check out the tip I posted on the other pizza thread, basically make your pizza in a dry frying pan, cook the base over the hob and then finish under a hot grill, best non forno pizza ever.
