Title: 5th mash this week
Post by: brenmurph on March 10, 2014, 09:00:34 PM
Tonight its a Scottish 90 shilling using some new techniques and the new 1 gallon brewery. Its using very little sparging to enhance the maltiness and reduce the potential grainyness. also we are trialling our 3 hour setup ( from start to finish). We can do a full all-grain (without rushing) in 3 hours including clean up.

We really enjoy pottering about the brewery all day and we dont care if the brew takes 8 hours, however to accomadate visitors who cant stay all day we designed the small batch system that shows all the processes in glorious detail but a lot quicker as we are only waiting for 1 or 2 gallons to sparge and  come to boil.
We started this batch at 7.15 pm having done the recipe in advance.
15 minutes to prepare the grain while the water comes to temp, 1 hr mash, 15 minute sparge while the first runnings are already in the boiler.
its now 9pm and the boil is going nicely so 10 pm blast chill and drop into fermenter.

in the meantime a nice beer or two washes down the grain dust ;)
