Title: Brew Day at the Boro
Post by: Will_D on March 12, 2014, 10:18:12 AM
We also discussed the possibility of holding a brew day at the Boro:

Again some notes and quotes:

1. Date Probably mid-may Saturday

2. Suitability of Boro: Will will check on power and water.

3. Intention is to demo the Kit and Kilo method to the overall public at about 1 pm.
Hopefully we will be given a kit from the health food shop in the pavillions.
They may also be interested in sponsoring our August Comp (Will to check)
They probably would like to have kits for sale

4. Another intention is to invite interested people to the All grain brew which would start at about 10 in morning.
This will be done via publicity from the Boro, the NHC and the health shop.

Maybe also an extract demo after the Kit&Kilo

5. Boro will probably put on a BBQ.

6. Boro will probably let us give out samples.
So we need a couple of Cornies also some bottles of wine and port as the shop will probably
want us to show how good there wine kits are.

So great discussion last night!

Here in summary is what we propose:

Old Boro Brew Day May 11th.

Cahal has agreed to do an AG Stout on his new system
Jacob has agreed to do an AG IPA on his gas system
Will will demo the beer Kits and probably also the wine kits as well

As well as the above equipment and ingredients we need to bring extension cables, maybe our own water for the brews(may be easier that way).

Popup stand, NHC Info, Cards and flyers if we have any

Timeline:

9:30: Get the infrastructure set up and the water on
10:30 ish Start the mash (2nd mash starts at 11:30)
12:00 ish Sparging (1:00)
12:30 Start Boil (13:30)
2:00 Finish (2nd finishes at about 3:00)

Suggest we stagger the two AGs so that people who miss the start of the first one catch the second and also see the first one finish before the second one (speeds thing up a bit)

I will talk to the Health Food shop about kits/sponsor ship

I will talk to Boro if its OK to bring some samples!

PS: Bring your Medals. We have a fair few as well as some other clubs!

Any comments?

If the health food shop don't sponsor a kit ill provide one. the mates can have it as backup for summer. keep them away from my beers.  ;) I may also have a wine kit somewhere.

Just a heads up:

The Italians are comming!

Sunday May 11th the Giro D'Italia is comming down the old road (N1) from Belfast, down the dual carriage way to Woodies R'about then along Estuary road, Yellow walls Road and into Malahide then along the coast.

The Esturay road will be closed from about 12:30 ( so we have been told in rugby club). Tour expected along the estuary about 3:30. So expect some problems!

BTW: Boro have a note in the diary to crank up the smoker for us :)

Bad news about the 11th. The Boro would like us to reconsider given that the communioin thing is big and also last day of football season and the Giro!

I know the 18th is out for Jacob. They think Sundays are best so what do we think?

Jacob/James/Cahal(gets more time for the brewery build!) what would suit you?

Im in Sweden (again) between May 17-24
- we also have the AGM and our meet (or two) early May.

It really needs to be a Saturday in my book to catch the public interest.
