Title: 2 month old Dusseldorf Alt Yeast WLP036
Post by: ColmR on March 26, 2014, 10:06:49 PM
Hi.
Doing an alt beer this weekend and am making a starter this evening. Cracked the vial and the smell was kind of sour and sulphury (almost cider). Just wondering if anyone's familiar with this yeast and got similar smells?

Never used this yeast before. Probably worrying over nothing but the yeast is 2 months out of date and I've been burnt before.

Looked grand in the vial though.

Any thoughts?

Colm

Well, I went ahead with the starter and pitched the yeast. Fermentation took off in no time. Controlling the temp pretty well also.
Probably just me being paranoid. Will post results in a few months time.
