....setting up for bottling only to find out that the beer isn't quite ready yet for some unknown reasonĀ >:(
Gravity still a bit on the high side?
aye....1.020 so not long to go. Still made me get all my gear out though cos its been fermenting for a couple of weeks now and its usually grand by then (http://i.imgur.com/OC9fSdh.gif)
If the bottles are plastic I would have just went ahead and bottled....then again I'm lazy. :)
Nah glass bottles. I did get a sample of it though and while its slightly sweet, its really nice 8-)
What yeast are you using?
Fermentation conditions?
Temp?
Why is this in the "important topics" section :P
QuoteWhy is this in the "important topics" section :P
beer not fermenting is very important!!
yeast is WLP005...temp is I dunno really...its beside a rad now anyway. My last brew used the same yeast in the same room and was fine. Just need patience
On this topic - Im not one for numbers usually, so my take on this particular subject is (or i should say used to be): "If im bottling on Monday, Im bottling on Monday!!" I didnt prick about with gravity readings or the like.
Til I realised i was making shite beer, and when it came out good, it was usually quite by accident.
Im a changed man now though starting from this week :)
If you're fv is beside a rad and you don't know your temp, I'd say you're over temp.
If your domestic heating has a single temp control for the whole house, with the recent cold weather and rads being on more it is possible that the fv has gotten too hot.
I just moved it beside the rad today. Just getting impatient thats all
Seriously though, what temp is your foimentor?
Have you not got a thermometer?
the stick on LCD jobbies are about eur2
Can't be arsed sanitising my thermometer to be honest. Theres CO2 buildup coming from the airlock which is always a good sign :)
What sanitizing?
Get a stick on LCD thermometer and pop it on the side of your fermenter.
What are you brewing that does not need good temp control?
Dry stout. The only temperature control I ever use is a blanket wrapped around the bucket. Works for me :)
