Title: Splitting a Combined Fridge/Freezer Unit.
Post by: montofk on March 31, 2014, 01:06:54 PM
Hi All... Has anyone ever done this, is it possible?

I have a combined unit, the kegs are on top in the fridge bit, hops (and a few food items) are in the lower freezer bit.
If I wanted to use the fridge as a fermentation fridge I obviously wouldn't want the entire unit clicking on and off as it would ruin the contents of the freezer.
Do they have separate power supplies... or can they be separated with a bit of poking about? The idea would be the unit would then have 2 plugs (1 for freezer, 1 for fridge).

Any one seen it done or done it themselves?
Thanks

Most FFs have only one compressor so you cannot control the two chambers separately.

If there are 2 then yes you can!

Thanks for that Will - I'll have a poke around see if it has 2 compressors... probably has.
