Post by: Greg2013 on April 06, 2014, 05:56:05 PM
Better Brews IPA Kit 2.1kg
Light Liquid Malt Extract 1.5kg
Dextrose 0.5kg
Maltodextrin 0.25kg
East Kent Goldings 25.0 grams @ 30mins
Green Bullet Hops 23.0 grams @ 30mins
1tsp Irish Moss @ 15mins
Kit Yeast.

Hydrometer OG 1050
Hydrometer FG 1014

ABV 5.04%.

Place 24 litres cold tap water in kettle and bring to a good rolling boil.
Once at rolling boil add the dextrose, maltodextrin, and the EKG and Green Bullet hops.
Stir well and boil for 30 minutes.
At 15 minutes add the 1tsp Irish Moss.
After 30 minutes switch power off and stir in the 2.1kg IPA Kit plus the 1.5kg light liquid malt extract.
Stir until dissolved.

Whirlpool and filter through a nylon mesh hop bag into a 25 litre cube that has been previously sanitised,
and allow to cool naturally overnight.Transfer into a sanitised fermenter the next day shaking the cube well before you do.
Pitch the kit yeast and maintain fermentation temperature around 19-20 Celsius.

Better Brews IPA kit, kegged only last night so still very cloudy but already great head(ooh matron). Very sharp/grassy hop bitterness on both aroma and flavour, i wonder is that because it is still so young ? Anyway a nice drop, let's see what a week in the keg will do for it  ;D
