Going there in a couple of weeks, but it's ten years since I've been there.
Anyone know of anywhere there that sells decent beer?

I thought it was a fantastic city when I was there ten years ago, but not from a beer point of view.
Superbock is amongst the worst beers I've ever had. >:D
Also, stay away from the 'Beer Museum'

Never said it was good - my experience was abysmal and bucks the trend i'd imagine; me and missus, mother inlaw (mil) and a 6 month old , the original appartment had the water turned off so relocated to another which was fine until the evening , we could hear furry lads in the walls and between floors could see them scurrying across spot - lighting, mil left to go home early to a funeral - we handled another 2 nights before leaving in the middle of the night to a hotel in the centre
The city itself wasnt bad :) They eat a lot of fish :)
I was there last Summer and unfortunately I too found it to be a bit of a beer wasteland. I stuck my head into the beer museum for about 2 seconds before making a hasty retreat. On the other hand is a great place for wine fans and the seafood is delicious - particularly the chargrilled sardines

This is looking dodgy for a stag of 20 lads. :(
Go to benfica or sporting for a match , i dont think they do bars , dont remember anything other than restaurants that had a couple of beer taps

It has a thriving coffee shop scene if that interests your stags.

+1 They also brought me a beer as a replacement for the one i ordered. it was double the price when i got the bill. Lisbon doesn't get going til near midnight. People just appear out of the shadows. The bars are really small and most people drink out on the street. Theres hills everywhere. your always walking up one or down one. Grab a few bottles of 10 year old port for home. its cracking. People keep offering cocaine to the tourists. A local told me its just sugar and thats why they are so blatant. Its a known scam but too much effort for the cops.
Rua Diário de Notícias is the main locals bar street. but will be empty til late. I used to drink in Wasp rock bar. they had Budvar.
RateBeer is probably your best bet for place recommendations.

Didn't know that was on ratebeer. Also hard to believe Brew Dock is the highest rated bar in Dublin, and you can't even get a dry Irish stout on tap in it.
Not a major fan of the places that app recommends. Used it in Brussels last year and it wasn't the best to be honest.
Ah interesting! I found it good when we were in Nice but guess it depends on who is posting.
I lived and worked there for a year back in the 1990 and must admit to loving it. Not a great selection of beer but for a stag you should be able to keep going all night as most bars will stay open as long as there are customers. The barrio alto in the city centre is a maze of small streets and bars that is always very lively and good craic. You can also head out towards Belem to the docas areas where there are loads of bars in a strip under the bridge. Or head out of the city to cascais or estoril. No shortage of good food or wine, salted cod is their national dish (bacalau).
Shanna.
