Title: May Meet: Old Boro May 13th
Post by: Will_D on April 21, 2014, 07:39:24 PM
Yes I know this is early but I am just drinking Nigels/Sam Blacks Beoir#1
Rather than start a new thread this will do nicely:

As always the NCBers have the best recipe designers.

Brilliant IPA Nigel.

Assuming its only you and me who have a stash we must bring a bottle each to the next meet.

@All:
The NCB forum has been very quiet for the last two months or so. Is everything ok with everbody?
We have registered the comp with the BJCP so work will be needed on this front.
Also we need to re-schedule the brew day.
Then there is the lawn mower comp

BTW: TCF=90 but James is owed at least 20 for the bags

Wow early start for next month.
Glad you like the DIPA. It's a tasty drop. I can bring a bottle along to the next meet up. (If it lasts that long  ;)  )

It has been quiet here lately. Maybe we should have a night out. Not our own brews just a few quiet pints in the borro or 44.

Thats a great idea - could do both! With no beer to bring it would be the bus!

As an old friend of mine said, "I hate easter its just 4 Sundays in a row"

Next Tuesday is still two weeks from the next Official meet.
However am free most nights next week

What thinks every one else?

Brilliant IPA Nigel.
Had a pint (yes a pint, not 2/3, not 1/2) of it in ATG on Sunday. Lovely stuff! Well done Nigel!

I should have a few yeasts to share around. I'm building up a Hoegaarden yeast. Uses it last year so gaining it a good bit of time time to build up before I use it and it's already taken off great if anyone wants a tube.

Also should have some Wlp 838 south Germany lager.

your more than welcome to cascade plants man, My plan with hops is to build a garden with as many different variety as i can so I can get cuttings for whenever people need them but i have a cascade plant under glass and its already about 10 feet tall and offshoots on it every day XD I keep cutting it back but it feels such a waste to bin all the cuttings

Some of the lads in my local off licence are starting to looking into brewing so I said it to them about coming along on Tuesday. They are thinking about stocking kits and even starting up demos in store which i said id help out with.

Big craft beer suppliers on the north county and I'd doing EVERYTHING I can to get them involved. Suppose I'll have to drop into them tomorrow evening and try twist their arms and bribe them with the promise of some extra special beers.

DONT let me down lads.

Possibly 3 or 4 lads. Id say we just go with out normal 2x500ml. We should have enough with that. They might not even show up but were interested when I was talking to them about it.

Anybody like some Karmelite Trippel yeast (cultured from big 75 cl bottle of the same)?

It will need growing on to get a full vial.

A few things for the agenda:

1. Next Barrel fill - we are half way there

2. Hop packing

3. Next Brewday

4. Summer beer comp

5. Our ICBINAL Comp in August

6. AOB

A great night was had by all.

Its very nice to welcome guests to our meet, thanks for comming John and Ronnan.

Maters discussed:

1. Next Barrel fill:
We agreed to give this one more week to see who will committ to the brew.
Once we have enough we can sort the recipe and take it from there. So please update the cask thread

2. Hop packing:
We need to order bags for this. Will will sort that out. Jacob gave Will his packer.
When the bags are here we will set the date and venue. Prob. The Rugby Club.
I will bring a tarpaulin as leaf hops are not as clean as pellets - and look at the mess we had with those.
What shall we do with the spare free bale?

3. Next Brewday:
Will will discuss with Boro over a few lunchtime pints. May take several visits tho'!

4. Summer beer comp:
We need to get Rossa to agree a date so we can work backwards.
I have already updated his thread but no word yet.

5. Our ICBINAL Comp in August:
This is now registered with BJCP, formal announcement made. I will try and get the registration software ready.

6. A note for your diaries:
Friday June 13th at James'. If you can come/help/donate please PM him

7. AOB:

There being no further business the meeting then switched to beer tasting mode!

Again a fantastic selection of beers and ciders were presented and enjoyed.

From light summer beers, fruit ciders, IPAs, Ales, Saissons, Porters and Stout all the way to the Imperial IPAs and Stouts.

A special mention for "Nigel the Recipe" DIPA beer. Fantastic was the concensus.

BTW: TCF=115

The extra hops could be packaged up and put up for sale. Could be a nice little earner for the NCB bank account.

What variety is it again?
