Am looking to upgrade to all grain for a cheap as possible, I am converting a keg into a boiler and need a cheap cooler box for a mash tun..... Any ideas or offers

If you can get your hands on another keg, convert it to a mash tun by gluing insulation to the outside of it. I copied this idea from Spud (who I think copied it from Tucan). See Spuds post on this.

I did mine with a bottom drain, but if I was to do it again, I would do a side drain that connects via a dip tube to suck up wort from underneath a false bottom. I loose approx 2 litres of wort from every mash due to the curved shape of the bottom of the keg and the difficulty in getting the last bit out.

You can get a stainless steel candle tray from Ikea that will exactly in to the bottom of the keg. See the following thread where I documented this.

I drilled some additional holes in the tray as the slots were clogging with grain and slowing down the draining process.

OMearas camping across the road from shearys on the Crumlin Road sell 34 litre cool boxes for20 euro. TThey'll need some extra insulation though

Amazon UK still selling 28l Thermos cool boxes for £20 delivered (free delivery to UK address). I converted one of these a couple of months back and they are pretty well insulated - lose about 2 deg max of mash over 45 min period....
