Title: Finally a brew day!
Post by: sub82 on April 01, 2013, 10:27:29 PM
We were moving house the last 2 weeks so finally got a stout on the go - using English WLP002 and flaked barley for the first time. Included a glucan rest for the flaked barley.

Flaked barley - look at it there.

Hopping it up - black sheep style!

Starter!

What's the beer you are making with this flaked barley.

Just going for a stout - wanted to work on head retention and mouth feel. Using 500g flaked barley for 25L.

Have you used it before?

In the past and only in a stout. Posted recently about a suggestion of using it in a different beer style. Problems with haze in a lighter coloured beer aside but giving a grainy taste to a hoppy pale might be interesting. :-/

Sounds good - will have to see how it tastes before I could comment.

Interesting about the black IPA delzep. You must end up with a farcical head on that one!
