So, I brewed a beer yesterday, everything was going sweet as, until I rehydrated my yeast, just a pitching temps, I used the thermometer to mix the rehydrating yeast.....big mistake, I looked down and the thermometer had no bulb and I got a massive whiff of solvent.....the yeast was destroyed and smelled like petrol.
I ran over to some brewing friends, IamredDave and Laura (bogmyrtle) from Beoir/ICB but unfortunately they have a brewing hiatus and had no yeast. Dave said phone someone else and I'll drive you over...one call to iMark and I had three packs.
I got them pitched and the beer was saved.
Thanks to IamredDave and Mark anyway.
Great community spirit, what was the yeast?

I was using Mauribrew ale that I srewed up and filled with solvent, I ended up pitching Garvin which was what I wanted originally anyway, so it was a blessing in disguise.
I checked in the new fermenter this morning and there is high krausen, so we're good.
Glad to help. :)
