was thinking making it with the following

500mg dark spray malt

500mg Muttons beer enhancer

300mg of treacle.

should i leave the treacle out or increase or decrease the amount of malt and enhancer.

Muttons is that DME dressed as Lamb geddit?

Ok I'm not funny, why don't you do a split if you had a couple of 15 or 20 Litre buckets ideally, personally although I love treacle toffee, too much going on there with the treacle for me.
Let us know how it turns our what ever you decide.

10g fuggles - 20 min boil
10g fuggles - 5min boil
10g fuggles - dry hop

fermented at 18, increased to 24 for last few days
4.5%

The one before was (also very tasty):
kit
500g dark dry malt
500g wheat dry malt
500g dextrose
to 22Liters
fermented at 18, increased to 24 for last few days
4.8%

Did you spin the hydrometer? or degas the sample?

Bottled the stout tonight, FG was 1006.

most of the brew went into brown 500ml btls with 1.5 drops.
had a 750 and 1lt glass btls and they got 2 drops, also had a 1lt plastic btl so put 3 drops into it.

next up the coopers dark ale.

Hey all so im gunna jump on the stout wagon too  :D, im doin the coopers irish stout kit this weekend at some stage hopefully. I am thinking of using the can with 1.5kg of dark LME and Lyle's black treacle ;D, I just had a few questions for people with experience of this kit.

1. should I use the whole can of treacle (450g) or maybe 200g?
2. should I use WLP004 Irish Ale yeast or Safale US-05 yeast?
3. Should I still be keeping the fermenter at 18c or different?

Thanks in advance for the wise words of wisdom  :D

go with the 200mg of treacle and see what you think, if you reckon it's not enough then add more on the next batch.

Hi Rob

Have you brewed stout before?
Do you like treacle?

If the answer is yes then fire ahead!

For me I think it's important to work from a start point.
Why not brew this one as is supposed to be, this way you can make future changes and experiment with ingregients.

You should be able to decide if your going in the right direction.

Without contradicting myself. I would recommend adding The Dark LME.

Its a really good Kit

Damian

ye i like treacle and I like stout so I am thinking they will go well together  ;D hopefully, Im still wondering which of the 2 yeasts would work best? or would there even be much of a difference?

1 - God, you lot love your treacle...  ;D I don't so I'll keep my nose out of this one...

2 - On some other kits i'd swap out the yeast at the drop of a hat, but I stick with the kit yeast on this one.
It really does do a good job.

3 - I generally ferment the Irish stout kit at 20-22C

For something special try some chocolate grain, and lots of fuggles or east kent goldings

bottled on Jan 21st, left in the hot press till Thursday night the 31st, was this to long or is it ok.

put up in the attic straight from the HP.
pretty cold up in the attic atm, will that affect the beer at this stage.

plan on having one Friday the 8th.
