The "South Dublin Brewers" will be conducting their next tasting meet on Thursday 29th in the Dark Horse, Blackrock. Details below...
Location
The Dark Horse, Blackrock, Co. Dublin
Date
Thursday 29th May
Time
8pm
Protocol
- You don't have to have any beer to bring in order to participate! Inexperienced brewers are more than welcome. Even if you're only thinking about brewing your own, come along our friendly crowd will answer any questions you might have.
- If you have some brews for tasting, please bring along 500ml of each.
- To show some thanks to our hosts for allowing us to drink home-brewed beers in their pub, it is customary to buy some drinks from the house. The Dark Horse boasts an extensive range of craft beers and also has an excellent off-license.
- Please sign-up below if you'd like to attend - that way you will be notified of any cancellations or other changes.

1. Bubbles - dunno yet, probably an English bitter
Conor are we going to do the summer session beer compo at the meet?
Shanna
Oh yeah! Forgot about that. We'll do a one member, one vote system the same as last time??
This comp caught me on the hop last year aswell, despite ample notice from Rossa. And I've nothing to enter this year either. I could try and disguise my American barleywine as a sub-4% beer?? >:D

Depends whether you can water the barleywine down :) Tried a bottle of my summer beer on Friday night and it was an eye opener to drink a beer that has less than < 4%

2. Shanna - South Dublin Barley Wine sample and control
I didn't realise we had a "control" for the barleywine... did you take a mixed sample from the barrel?

No the control would be what is in the keg with the point to see what a non barrel version would be like.
Shanna
Ok, but is the keg a combination of everyone's beers, or just one persons?

Just one beer. This is the same as what we did for the RIP where the control bottles were originally taken from the last few litres of what was left over from the last batch that did not make it in to the barrel. Then later the control was from the subsequent batch that I made. While it would be great to compare a blend that was not stored in the barrel against the blend in the barrel its not possible :)

Count me in, first timer, missed last one as I was out of the country. Will bring along what I think is decent bottle conditioned ale, (from kit so couldn't go far wrong! ;-) )would relish some feedback that isn't mates getting free beer!! Have hop spiked a few bottles and tasted very interesting!!! Bit too lively to bring along tho'!!!
Will the bar accept beoir tokens or is that one kick in the nuts too far!!?

Shanna
Yes dude, you're booked in. Just turn up and drink! :)
Hey Lads,
I'm not going to be able to make it tonight. Shanna sorry that I haven't collected the fermenting bucket from you yet either. Work is insane at the moment but hopefully I'll collect off you some evening next week if you're around.
Cheers,
Cathal

Hi Damien
Nice to meet you too. Glad you enjoyed the night was a bit fuzzy at work on Friday, must have been that buried at sea :) Hope you can keep coming along, would be nice to have more brewers around locally.
Shanna
Howdy, would like to head down to the next one of your meets.
Based in Stepaside so it seems like the closest club to me, only doing kit brews at the moment. Hoping to maybe expand to partial extract. (small apartment ;) )
