Title: Oat husks
Post by: mr hoppy on May 24, 2014, 01:06:16 AM
Summer's nearly here and that means wits, weisses, grazters and all that other good wheaty stuff.

But does anyone know where to get oat hulls. I was in the HBC the other week and they didn't have any. Still don't online.

Oh so when it's harvest time your all Mr farmers friend !
But when it's not you make stereotypical comments about farmers with pitch forks !
That kinda stereotype leads to racism against people and farmers are people.... hard working back bone if Ireland type.....shame in YOU Pollack and i have polytunnel I'm half farmer  >:D

Ok, I give up. I'm not drunk enough to argue with half farmer.
It's all MrHappy's fault, shouldn't ask for husks in May  ;D

Are oat husks like rice hulls? I'm reading allot about rice hulls lately.

Both do same thing I just find oats easier to get. Maybe someone else can give more info.

Thing is, I'm not going to want to make summery wheat beers in September  :(  Looking into a possible source at the moment.

Would use rice husks but I've never seen them for sale here.

Why don't you just stick some muslin in your mash tun, if you are worried about a stuck mash? Used to mare a lot of wheat beers back in my BIAB days often with 60% wheat, and never had problems.
