Always bought pre-ground grains but toying with idea of doing it myself to save on grain costs and getting more storage time.
What mills do people use and how do they find them?
If money wasn't an issue (it usually is) what is the best mill out there?
It's hard to beat this (http://www.homebrewwest.ie/adjustable-roller-maltmill-brewferm-including-brewferm-bucket-2920-p.asp) one in my opinion.
Everything is included. Adjustable rollers, hopper, crank handle, can be driven with a drill, free bucket, timber base with a groove to fit the bucket. No mods required.
Frankenstein Crankandstein three roller mill is mercedes among mills if money is not an issue.
Post something in Wanted section. I personally know few of us on here with spare corona mills lying around. Maybe someone wants to sell it for few quid.
Corona is a good starter mill.

That the fella?
I think if I am gonna get one, it will be the last one I buy so probably won't go down the Corona mill route.
Happy to spend that little bit more first time around
I modded my Corona and bought a drill there last week, it fairly motors through grains now. It does 3KG in about 30 seconds.

Did you put a hopper arrangement on it too?
I dont mind the elbow grease required to fly through a grist with my corona, but it is messy to feed, and it does spit out odd bits of grain all over the place.

Anybody got a corona mill going cheap?

No, but you can pop in to me and mill grain, when you are passing in the meantime.

Yeah an empty 5kg protein powder tub makes a great hopper. Just cut a hole in the lid and cut the bottom off the empty tub. It fits perfectly once you cut a hole in the lid rather than simply remove the lid as it fits better with the ring from the lid.
I used a Holland and Barrett tub.
I know the OP said money's no object but with even the two easy mods from this I find a corona works pretty well. Lidl 5l water bottles make handy hoppers as well.

Thanks for the 5L water bottle suggestion. I was thinking of investing in some RO water bottles for mixing up star san, so would eventually have some of these lying around.
Good shout.
Hi,
looking for a malt mill too, found this one on ebay:
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/6040Home-Brewing-barley-malt-mill-crusher-Homebrewing-Equipment-/171317156860?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Food_SM&hash=item27e34c5bfc (http://www.ebay.ie/itm/6040Home-Brewing-barley-malt-mill-crusher-Homebrewing-Equipment-/171317156860?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Food_SM&hash=item27e34c5bfc)
Looks like the one from brewferm.
does anybody has any experience with the millmaster from Australia?

cheers
@Borstel73
The first mill you link to looks identical to the brewferm one alright. But you don't get is the wood base and bucket.
The Australian one looks very solid. Mate :)
PS welcome to the forum :)
For those interested here's the grain mill with hopper but without base or bucket for E100 delivered:

Feels like santy's making a list!
I'm tempted myself!
I have a grain mill - corona cast iron used only once for 35 euro if anybody wants it, I'm in cork
How much for it posted? Is it the same type as those on the HB shops?
As a matter of interest is there any reason you couldn't use an old meat mincer to crush grains? As in something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Spong-Green-enamel-Food-Meat-Mincer-/201208505625?pt=UK_Collectables_Kitchenalia_RL&hash=item2ed8f62519
Yes.
As in, yes there are reasons why you couldn't use a meat mincer.
If cash is tight the corona is your best bet.
If you are planning longer term, the bulldog or brouwland from HBW look to be good jobs, not having used either myself.
