Were they really all that bad?
Would the result nowadays be better because of better equipment, greater knowledge and improved technique?

I done one of those lager kits when I was about 16, kilo of sugar and into the hot press for a week or two! Served it from a roto-keg without even knowing about priming! I remember being impressed with it but what did I know I was 16!
It eventually got fed to the daisies after a combo of my father telling me to screw the gas cylinder in fully + me tampering with the safety valve + a full gas cylinder!
