Title: XBox 360 slim woes
Post by: johnrm on June 01, 2014, 11:43:11 AM
My son has an out of warranty XBox 360 slim which I think is over heating.
Sometimes it powers up, sometimes not. If it does, it shuts without warning.
I want to rule out power supply before bundling the console off to M$ for repair.

I believe the PSU has 2 power rails, 5 v and 12v but I can only see 5v. Maybe the 12v kicks in when unit is powered up.

Does anyone have a complete 360 slim to use for side by side testing?

Don't they have a problem with overheating where the CPU needs to be sorted out with thermal paste...?

I know a guy out in Littlepace, Clonee who'd do a good job on it.

He has a workshop in Glasnevin.

he did my TV for me, very reasonable, he started modding consoles and has gone in for full electronics repairs.
