Question:
Which Friday suits you best for brewday tasting and Liffey judging?
Option 1: Friday 27th June
votes: 2
Option 2: Friday 4th July
votes: 4
Option 3: Friday 11th July - can't realistically see anywhere being open or anyone going out.
votes: 0
Since the deadline for the Liffey/Belfast comp entry isn't until the 22nd, the earliest in fact only June Friday date we can pick is the 27th, so adding July 4th as well.
If you'd prefer to have a regular meet earlier in June and have the judging at a later date then let me know, although that only gives us the 13th or 20th.
Please vote or post your opinion.
Cheers,
-Barry
I have placed my vote. Can't do 4th July at all but I'm open to 13th or 20th June too......as it stands.
Can't commit to any of these dates but sounds like good craic!
With most likely be away on the 27th...I REALLY need to make a meeting though!
Any more takers here? Currently it looks like 3 of us on the 4th of July.
There's a LOT of beer to judge.
-Barry
I can make up the numbers on the 4th, if required?
I'm up for 4th :)
4th is good for me, I will be bringing my old man with as well so hope we have some awesome brews to judge
Just fired it up on the calendar.

My guinness clone maybe ::)
Okay,
So that's the big table in the Heel Bar at the Hudson reserved for the night of Friday 4th July.
I'll follow up next week with time but I would say, provisionally, 7:30 for 8. Maybe start the judging proper at 8:30 just to give folk time to meet up, get settled, get a pint, catch up, admire new hairdo's or nail jobs, etc.
I've taken receipt of a collection of Liffey brews ready for our discerning palettes, and our entries should now be safely down in Dublin ready for tomorrow night's judging.
Big thanks to Shane (Tube) for handling the conveyance and transfer. Excellent door to door service :)
@yarmot - yep, everyone's welcome. The more the merrier; there are a lot of beers to get through!
Look forward to seeing you all there.
Cheers,
-Barry
Have a +1. The guy I brew with, finally getting his arse in gear :P
Def can't make Friday. :(
Have a good night, supping on all those Liffey brews!
Andy
Hi guys!
Sorry I kinda rolled off the edge of the earth there for a while. Gutted to have missed the competition too!
I'll do my best to be there on Friday!
Edit: Thought this was a club meet up. Guess I should have read the OP properly ???
I'm guessing this is just for the guys in the comp? Wouldn't mind coming to watch, if that sort of thing is permitted?

Not at all Paddy. The judging's open to anyone who wants to. It's all a bit of harmless fun and not to be taken too seriously (although try telling that to the Liffey lads as they pace up and down their respective living rooms, biting their nails, checking their phone every 2 seconds for a new tweet ;) ).
I'm hoping we can get around 10 people to judge 17 beers in total. I'm out on Thursday night so there's a real fear of me not having the tastebuds for or inclination towards any amount of beer on Friday night :-X
So far I count (for judging):
Andy (BrewBilly) + 1
Chris (Bill_00) + 1
Dave (Mr.Drankin)
Yarmot
Paddy
Myself
Which makes 8.
Have I missed anyone out? Any more takers?
Cheers,
-Barry
Just off the phone with the Hudson to confirm the time.
They're reserving the big table in the Heel Bar for us from 7:30.
Cheers,
-Barry
Nice one this'll be class! Really sorry we can't make it :-[
Probably already sorted this ages ago but was wondering - is someone bringing jugs and plastic cups etc...
Hi Paddy,
I was just going to ask for a load of plastic glasses when we're down there.
Cheers,
-Barry
Awesome - I was going to offer to bring some but on checking realised we no longer have any :-X lol
I was going to wear my top hat tonight but forgot that I don't own one ;)
Cheers anyway, Paddy, but bringing some working tastebuds will be sufficient.
Well the hangover's gone and with it the whiskey regret. A thirst for some awesome brews from south of the border is slowly emerging. Competing beers are chilling as we speak. Laaverly!
-Barry
Good luck for tonight - it'll be awful hard on yous sampling those tasty Liffey beers! Dead jellis!!!
I'm crying off tonight lads, snowed under I'm afraid. Hope the beers are good. Tom
So.....
As the twerks suggested....
Close competition but 1 winner;
Imark's Belgian Golden Strong!!
Cheers to the Liffey dudes for a feast of beer.
Cheers to the Hudson for, even after having no record of the booking, putting things right so quickly for a bunch of blokes essentially coming in to drink a big carry out,.
Night night.
-Barry
Great and congrats to Imark >:( :)

Haha! How many times has that happened to us now?! Madness!
Thanks for the Judging lads....Didn't realise there was a second golden strong in..talk about counting your chickens...well done again Mark, its a cracking beer
Thanks lads. That beer has been runner up a couple of times now so glad it eventually won a comp.
Nice one lads and congratulations Mark! :)
not all of us are twitters so can ye post up the results here :)
Yo Dempsey!
Think the results were:
Quote5th 14 by Rixhard Caldwell
4th belgian strong Garrett
3rd black ipa roger
2nd barley wine - tube
1st Belgium Golden Strong- imark
Sorry guys. Was a bit preoccupied yesterday. Here's the top 5:
5th Dry Irish Stout - Richard Caldwell
4th belgian strong -Garrett
3rd black ipa - roger
2nd barley wine - tube
1st - Belgium Golden Strong- imark
Im off to the trophy shop on Tuesday, just as soon as I confirm its existence.
-Barry
How did liffey rate the beers???? Is the results posted maybe I cant see for looking?
I'm quite happy with that although they were the 2 beers I didnt think had a hope lol
I know what you mean, Dave. My steam beer was thrown in as an afterthought; a 'hang on, if I'm helping organise this thing I should at least enter something'. Whereas my tried and trusted trump card i.e the Cornish IPA, didn't feature. Just goes to show. Comps like this are a good way of keeping you on your toes.
-Barry
I had a rye ale, and thought it was one of the best brews I've made, but I suppose each to there own. I think I gave you a bottle when you were collecting Barry.

Had your rye last night, Dave. Very impressed. Nicely balanced, clean tasting and went down as easy as an A****h g*** i* M*galuf.
(Too soon?)-Barry
Congrats Mark!
