A friend of mine is having a house party in the middle of July.
Recommend me a recipe that most people would like.
The stuff I am used to making is an acquired taste ... I love hops but I don't think your common run of the mill lager drinker will have the ability to respect my IPA style beer.
I want to bring a batch of home brew for everyone to enjoy.
A plain pale ale hop free??
Edited . wrote the wrong month.
Bulldog Mexican cerveza kit with 200g of carapils. My Budweiser swilling buddies reckon its the best beer I ever brewed ::)

Will you have enough to make/age a beer by the middle of June? Why not try a stout or a malty Irish Red Ale?
Shanna
why not try something hoppy but un-offensive like for example a dead pony club clone, i dont care who you are but one whiff of that and your converted i got all my ignorant friends and family hooked on punk and dead pony club
How about a light pale ale with some more lagers type hops. That should suit most common lager drinkers. Maybe use a kolsch yeast. Pilsner for base malt.
Brew it to sub 4%. Tell them it's 5+%. They'll all go, "pharrr, this is strong". :P
HBC extract kit blonde and hop it with a little extra saaz as close to a lager as you can get.
Years ago brewed 2 beers for a family get together. Had 20 litres of a SNPA clone & a fairly basic & bland beer- the former for myself & a few other beer geeks, the latter for the rest.
In the end, the SNPA clone got cleaned out & the boring ale was more or less untouched. I had it for months. Lesson learned for me!

everyone loves a SNPA, a clone could be a good idea
I brewed a belgian wit last summer and the average drinker really enjoyed it. Its advantage is that its neither "Strong" or "Aley".
Have a cascade single hop in primary right now. It might be worth taking a few gallons to the party. Everyone like citrus
I make this beer any time I have a family gathering and it goes down a storm http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f66/centennial-blonde-simple-4-all-grain-5-10-gall-42841/ (http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f66/centennial-blonde-simple-4-all-grain-5-10-gall-42841/)

Good call. Mate of mine did a Hoegaarden clone a couple of years ago and even the women loved it.

That's also a good idea. Did a Horgaarden clone & brought a corny of it to the flat lake festival. Granted it was a very hot day but between a mixed group, most of whom Wouldnt be massive beer drinkers, but those 19L didn't last too long!!!

Yup! Pale ales simply don't work as people will just think they are the same as Smithwicks.
A trick I learnt in the B&C was, don't use the word "ale". People associate ale with beer they had years ago that was either too heavy, too dark or too bitter. As soon as you say "pale ale" they automatically decide that they don't like it. Just call it a "pale" and they have no preconceived notions about it so they taste it with a much more open mind. Ignorance is bliss. ;)
That Centennial blonde is a keeper. And Belgian Wit is a great crowdpleasing style for the hot summer. Saisons too - the tartness/spicyness works great on hot days and is very refreshing. You dont have to be too complicated with them either.
But I would be wary of pandering to the lowest common denominator. Don't go out of your way trying to make something anaemic, just so people will try it. Make your own beer, and make it good.

I have 27Litres of this in the fermenter a week now, samples have tasted good so far. Will know more in a couple of weeks.
I put slightly more hops in than the recipe.
It should be a good beer for a session.
