Title: Bringing Beer on Checked-in Luggage on a Plane
Post by: ColmOM on June 14, 2014, 10:40:30 AM
Howdy,

I'm flying next Monday and wondering if it is possible to stow beer bottles in checked-in luggage on the plane? It'd be two swing top bottles of a pale ale I made but I'm a bit worried they could explode and ruin everything in my case. Anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks,
Colm

I stowed multiple times sealed bottles with no problems. The swing top ones, never tried, I've always been scared of the possibility that by moving in the luggage, the swing top may open... not about the bottle exploding though...

You could go down in History as the man who brought down a plane using just beer. Ask Myth busters :P

The only time I had a bottle break in my luggage it was due to baggage handlers being rough with the bag.

I've often brought swing tops on planes. I usually tape them for a bit of added security.

I brought poteen into Holland 15 years ago. A customs officer searched our bags and put her hands through clothes etc. How she missed the bottles, I'll never know.

Anyway I was terrified but formulated a plan on the spot . . . holy water. If challenged, my plan was to say it was a miracle!
