Just watched this advert ! They are only $90 in US
Wonder what shipping would cost?
This seems to be the 'dogs' when it comes to a systems approach to connical fermentation:
http://www.thefastrack.ca/main/fastferment (http://www.thefastrack.ca/main/fastferment)
Have just sent an email to see if they will ship to us
Also note that Brouwland in Belgium are thefre agents!
What about our Brouwland agents getting in touch and either import through brouwland or becoming the Irish agents?
They are on sale in the UK too. I remember seeing them before.
Using shipito.com (http://calculator.shipito.com/en/#/result) it would be around $50. That doesn't include VAT & dutys, add on €90x25% would be a good estimate.
I'd estimate €125 altogether. Sounds reasonable enough. Who's going to be the guinea pig :P
Just received this email for them
For rough estimates please go with 14" by 14" by 20" and will weigh around 15-20lbs.
Our goal is to have it retail from Brouwland and through Brouwland distribution channels (certainly retail partners in your region) for an end retail price of no more than 100 Euro. We have already confirmed this with Brouwland for when the product becomes available.
Looking forward to your thoughts.
Thanks,
Casey
Nice :)
Looks really good. A big improvement on the vee vessel :). At a €100 a pop its ideal as a Christmas prezzie or a birfday day prezzie or a you do love me don't ya well then prezzie ::).
Looks the business..
No stand and looks difficult to clean :/
Would prefer BREW BUCKET (http://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=585) instead.
Know that it's not a conical, and it's more expensive but it comes with a rotatable racking arm and it's so shinyyyyy :D
The biggest draw back is that it is a plastic of some kind and so limited in its life. Any sours would no doubt infect it :(

So just buy two!
So just had a reply back from the states:
They would prefer if we dealt through Brouwland.
So could Homebrewwest pick up this ball and talk to Brauwland. They will be getting some in soon?
Also is getterbrewed in NI a Brouwland agent?
I am also talking to them about cooling them as they are big. From top (of airlock) to bottom (of ball) they are 39" tall
I see your old school I mean inches ;D

Actually it does have a conical bottom - just no dump valve on the bottom of the cone.
They have some good videos on their site. UK agent is TheMaltMiller and they charge £160 for the yoke.
The shipping is a bit daft:
£14-80 to (PM) in Belfast up to 30kg
For good 'old dubland' its ONLY £10-80 up to 30 kg
However as the 7 gallon true conical is only $170 more ( £105 (or €125)) thats a total of £265 plus weird shipping
Now thats about half the price of some of the Chinese stuff PLUS the 7 Gallon comes with a lot of Triclover fittings and big ball(
valve)s
SO: Who is well connected with MM in the Uk and is prepared to organise a GB?
The FastFerment conicals are up on Brouwland's site now for 99€ but delivery to Ireland is 42€ :(
It would make a nice Christmas present if there are any WAGs reading ;)

any irish hbs thinking of stocking these ? id say they would sell well if kept at the "mainland" price ......or possably a gb to share shipping?
Would they ship to Ireland? We have a brouwland distributor.
Maybe talk to HBW about doing a bulk deal...
How would you temp control these :-\

Some trace heating tape and a couple loops of copper pipe wrapped around the cone and connected to a beer cooler via a solar pump?
or on the stand in a tall fridge \ STC set-up? would it not fit?

Not too sure that would work well on a plastic wall as it will be fairly resistant.
This one is 9watts/mt
https://www.traceheatinguk.co.uk/product?pid=459&nm=Raychem+HWAT-M+Heat+Trace+Cable+%289+w%2Fm+at+55%C2%B0C%29
And this one is 36 watts/mt
https://www.traceheatinguk.co.uk/product?pid=461&nm=Raychem+ICESTOP-GM2X+Snow%2FIce+Gutter+Protection
Not sure if you meant electrical or thermal resistance ? If the heating and cooling jackets are covered in reflective foil insulation, then there's nowhere for the heat/coolth to go but into the product
thermal resistance is what I was thinking of. A copper pipe lightly flattened and coiled around it might have a poor effect especially if you were making a Lager. :-\

Will did you get anywhere with this. :)
No but I've got very good a flattening 8 mm copper pipe (by mistake)
The simplest way to cool a vessel would be to wrap say 50 of thin walled, 4 mm ID pvc tubing ( about 50 m) should be cheap in bulk) and pump brine/glycol at 0C as required.
Lag it up with the proverbial "HBrewers duvett" or better and Bob is yer Dads Bro!
Sorry Dempsey I'm an ale man at heart, keep forgetting about Lager......Will, If you're going to that trouble professional CCVs have separate cooling circuits for the body and the cone, a simple addition of a couple of valves would sort this.

Would using pvc tubing not be very poor at cooling as the tubing itself will resist the cooling transfer. My shed build is coming along well and a thought occurred to me to have a few of these hanging in a dedicated temp area but do not want them to look guntered with crappy cooling/heating bits hanging off them. :)

Looked up CCV on Google and do you mean, Community College of Vermont - CCV or, Community Core Vision: CCV or, Canadian Common CV. Mr don't think so :D.
Cylindro conical vessels sorry for the confusion
The Homebrew Company are Brouwland distributors here not HBW - Shane, what about it?

Agreed but pvc tubing is cheap as chips and can be wrapped round anything! Lag it with owt thats snug and you will be sorted.
The alternative is to try to wrap 8/10 mm Cu or S/S around the fermenter - not an option IMHO !!
I thought so too but Brian at HBW recently told me I should talk to Shane about Brouwland products. Got the impression he's not stocking them anymore but I could be wrong

There is a crowd in the UK doing conicals for the bio-fuel industry. I saw a post on another Irish forum and I think they were able to get a 40l for around 50 stg plus postage.
http://www.tanksuk.co.uk/index.html (http://www.tanksuk.co.uk/index.html)
May be worth contacting them if there was interest for a GB?
Tanks uk 40ltr rotationally moulded virgin hdpe. Bout 50 sterling and 20 sterling shipping. Havevone in use in kildare past year or more.
What's the thread spec on the bottom of the conical? Cheers for the reply btw.. How are you finding it, any good?
Not a plumber so dunno but its standard 1 inch household plumbing available anywhere. He will fit a stainless or brass boss(thread) in de conical. Its a fantastic bit of gear. U do need a stand for it or make a wooden insulated box
It will be Bsp (British Standard Pipe) used not only in UK & Ireland but also through Europe for pipe fittings.
It refers to the though hole diameter!
So for example a 1/2" bsp fitting has a 1/2" hole through it. Allowing for the rest of the metal to make a male thread, then across the threads is more like 3/4"
Will do :)
I bought one of the 40L in the beginning of the year.
