Title: WLP041 Pacific Ale Yeast
Post by: CARA on July 20, 2014, 06:36:16 PM
Anyone used this? Made an American Brown on Wednesday and it's a right little slow burner. Took a while to kick off and only did so with mild enthusiasm but smells fantastic out of the bubbler anyway. Krausen seems to have only gone a centimeter or two above the liquid.

I shall be transferring and washing the yeast on Wednesday if anyone would like some after then.

How did this yeast work out for you Dec?
I've a vial in the fridge and thinking of using it for an IPA.

It's great for West coast IPAs Kev.  I used it in my last brew which disappeared in less than a month

I'm planning on using this for my next beer (a west coast style IPA) .... how did it turn out Fursey? anything I should watch out for?

I've just used the California V-Ale Yeast in my American Amber, & that was a real slow one to start; almost 40 hours before the yeast took to action & when it did, it sure as hell let me know. Lesson learned from working with these liquid yeasts LOL  :P

Any issues with attenuation?

I just lobbed it into the fermenter - it worked fine and I hit my gravity but I'd probably do a starter next time.
I don't think there were ant attenuation issues Kevin but I didn't do the numbers on it
