Title: south tipp checking in
Post by: tommiet on July 20, 2014, 09:21:12 PM
Hi all, been meaning to join for ages so here it goes,

i've been brewing beer/cider for a while now, the beer is all grain and the cider is a recipe i got from boards.ie, (beernut/khannie)

Is there any brewers in my area or even any clubs, I try and brew every month or two, to keep the stocks up, kinda hard during the summer months, very warm so fermenting fridge is always needed...

would love to know if there is anyone brewing near me, swap ideas and recipes and tips and tricks...

Well Tommiet, Welcome to the forum!

There's a few of us based in and around Thurles/Roscrea and post in the South Central area of the forum there, where in S. Tipp are ya? We have a monthly brewday in Thurles and I myself brew once or twice a week at home.

Definitely every Sunday anyway, and then the odd half day from work here and there. I was gonna stick one on this afternoon until I realised I'm out of buckets haha. If you can get away from the family our next Tipp brewday is on the 10th August (a Sunday) and the landlord (who also has the Carryout Off Licence in Clonmel actually) puts food and that on for us. Brenmurph usually brings a box of homebrew and we'll have two batches ready to drink that we've brewed previously an all. Nice day out.

What do you like to brew at home? Any favourite styles or just whatever pops into your head?

where in tipp is it held...?

At the moment I've an american lager bottle conditioning, bottled it saturday.. I like ales n stouts, blonde ales are smashing, I'm still getting the all grain kits from the home brew company, haven't experimented yet, I'd hate to make a batch and not like it...

do you brew all grain...?

It's in Thurles at Milleas Pub (formerly the Castle Tavern)

I do all grain yeah, cant beat the smell and of course the endless possibilities of styles!
