Bought one some time ago, and finally managed to assemble it and do some testing.
Not sure what to think cause it takes just 4 minutes to pump 5l of water.
With 20l needed for sparging it will probably finish all in around 16 minutes.
I know that sparging is a time taking process and you shouldn't be doing that to fast so was wondering if it'll be too quick.
Any comments?
If you can sparge that quick & still hit your numbers then 16 min sparge isnt an issue. If your efficiency drops though Id go for a much slower sparge. I try match my flow rates in & out of the mash tun (ive a ball valve tap on the sparge water in on my mash tun to regulate flow) My fly sparge can take anything from 40 mins to an hour depending on the grain bill.
Was talking about inefficiency I'm having on my mash and I know it's due to my sparging.
What sort of numbers do you get and what is your technique?
Fly sparging now and usually getting around 75%.
