Title: Solar Pump + Transformer.
Post by: Greg2013 on August 14, 2014, 07:58:34 PM
Need at least one solar pump, depending on price might get two to have a backup. I have been told these are 12 volt DC so i assume i aso need to buy a transformer ? I so what is the best source for these two, other than ebay. ;D

Definitely but 2  ;)

What's wrong with ebay? You'll pay 3 times as much to get the exact same thing from the UK (http://shop.solarproject.co.uk/newshop/catalog/index.php?cPath=2&osCsid=45eufi22lrq9p24700ckpp3fd4).

Have you got an old internet router around the house? Chances are it has a 12V power supply. An old laptop charger would do too. Have a look in the man-drawer.

Just make sure the transformer can deliver a decent amount of current.

old broken desktop computer take the power pack out of it u will have a very steady 12v and 5 volt supply.

the transformer in question aint good enough. solar pumps may be 1 to 2 amps and u need a little spare. ideally a 3 amp power supply.

Id say members here have a dozen such transformers of old radios, cameras, and all sorts of stuff.

Wats the purpose of the pump btw?
