So its been agreed that Saturday October the 4th is decreed as "National Homebrew Day"
In true NCB style we will set the bar high for this:
I have booked the rugby club for the day from 10:00
Format for the day:
We have a nice covered area for brewing:
Brew demos of all the styles ( AG: Gas/Electric/Brewmeister. Extract and importantly Kit with LME/DME + all the tweaks
We will also set up the small (triangular hop packaging room) with tables and info on the dry goods/stir plates/geeky stuff
Club (at last) to sell bottles of craft beers (Kiss: O'Haras range at fixed price)
If possible a few kegs of craft beers (Club makes money from these sales)
We can do a private BBQ (NCB gets this money)
Hopefully we get some sponsors on board for a raffle/kits.
Club will push this out to their mailing list (500+ peeps) and also the local shops and offys.
THIS COULD BE HUGH!
What else would expect from the NCB?
Logistsics:
Firstly is the PR material: We need to have some simple handouts/flyers available at the RDS as the whole idea of the brewday is to follow up interest shown at the RDS. Need to have this the week before the RDS
Then comes local PR material for the couple of shops and offies in the Malahide/Swords area (About a week before the 4th)
We need to hit some sponsors/breweries for support
Finally on the day we need people to bring the kit and caboodle.

First thing we need is some artwork for the flyers at the RDS:
Anyone into graphic design?
Basically we need to include on a poster/flyer:
National HB Day
National Homebrew Club
North County Brewers
Bru Brewery
Malahide Rugby Club
Whats involved!
BBQ
Date/Time/Location/Contact details etc
Ok so we are getting there. the flyers should be available by Moday or so.
The brewing and BBQ is just about covered.
We need someone to demonstrate making up the kit.
Also who can man the stand indoors from about 11:00 I'd say.
We need a few more bodies to help out.
I can help with whatever you need me for. Even doing the kit.....
Sound man Renier. Thanks
I have a wine kit I was going to do for Christmas I can donate for demonstration purposes. I know its simple but could be a handy show to fill any gaps in the day.
Which Rugby Club?

Sorry CM its Malahide Rugby Club (on the estuary half tween Swords and Malahide
Does anyone have a decent microscope ? I know my kids would get a massive kick out of seeing yeast with one...especially if we could catch some budding :)
Reckon random folks not that into beer, but just curious, would also like to look at yeast if someone is going to be showing off yeast cultivation...
Funnily enough Yes I do!!
It also has a camera system so will bring it to the club as part of the demos!
I might have a new gadget to demo on the day -
Its this (https://www.thebeerbug.com/)
Nice! Would like to see it in action. Really interested on your feedback.
Myself gave up on that project when they changed wifi module to electric imp.
Would prefer to log and process all the details locally not on a cloud :/
Looks pretty nifty
My brother in sweden put me onto it. It seems to throw a spurious data point at the start - other than that - looks great.
Any swords ncb ers got a print out of poster. My printer gave up the ghost.
(Malahide included ;))
Ta
Sure - I can print some copies -
how many do you need ?
Just back from Texas lane ??? ??? ???
Run off 15 and I'll get as many up as I can

Any one else is more than welcome to come as well - particularly if you are helping out on the day
Hey Will, i got your post over in the Meath Brewers page.

I will give a special lecture on "Paint to use in the Brewery (errr!! Kitchen) that doesn't discolour when brewing".
It is a must attend for newbrewers
I'll work on the brew bug tonight and get some screenshots printed etc.
Might need to borrow a kettle lead for the day if I can't find my second one.
No worries, I have loads of them
If anyone needs a lift from malahide, just let me know, no problem picking people up from the dart/mainline , we can drop you back as well
Hi folks, just noticed that you are having a homebrew event today! Agh! What time do you plan to be there until?
Brewing is finished, theirs a few brewers still here having a few beers for the next hour or so, your welcome to pop around if you want.
Ah wanted to see the all-grain brewing, my fault for only spotting the event late.
How did it go today? Will there be another 'see how to brew' day if this one was a success?
What a great day for a brew!
I reckon we met up with 20 or more new brewers ( any one who is there at 10:30 for mash-in must be serious!)
A steady stream of visitors over the day - very rewarding!
A big thanks to Ritchie on the BBQ, the brewers and the helpers and everyone for just coming!
Also to BRÚ for the amazing beers - "Should have brought more"
@equipment: Lets meet up at about 1pm to take the rest of the gear home: Breakfast is from 10:30 if hungry
And a big well done to will Davis for organising everything so meticulously !
Leinster game is a car crash, should have stayed in malahide rugby club !

Just arrived home from IKEA. Car stinks of stale Murphy's, however the Munster result more than made up for it :)
Thanks to Will for his technical assistance earlier.
Shanna
Looks like a great day lads. Might want to blur out the writing on those keggles though! :-/ :-)
