Title: Hop Rhyomes / cuttings
Post by: Rossa on February 25, 2013, 11:57:00 AM
I have Fuggles, First gold, WGV (Whitbread Golding Variety)

First come first served. Not sure how many I have but a bag full anyway.

BUT they won't be available until next week. Too much competition stuff this week.

I can't ask for one bottle of beer per rhyzome but I am not selling themĀ  :o and to barter with alcohol is illegalĀ  :'( Also I am not going out of my way. If you want them, show me as I haven't the time to be running around.

Just make a list. No PM's please as I get enough about the comp.

I haave no idea where blackrock is, but I suspect it isn't near Buncrana.

Can I send you an SSAE with a Euromillions scratcher in it as a bribe?

Cool. I reckon a big padded envelope would fit them.

That's sweet Rossa, thanks. Would you PM me your address and I'll get onto it.

Would love a WGV, and if you're struggling to shift any others, I'll find them a good home.

I will probably be taking some "Irishman's Cutting" from my hops. These should be ready to plant in the summer for next year.

Another way of getting lots of IM cuttings is to lay a growing bine (say about 6 foot long with about 8 nodes) into a length of plastic guttering ( bigger cross section the better - get a big square on if poss) and bury the bine in the compost with the leaves upwards. The idea is that each node should root ( may be to damage the node by removing one leaf & add a bit of hormone etc) and after a while a if a good root system has established chop up the cuttings and pot on.

Watch this space.

Varieties that MAY be available will be:

H. Mitttlefruh
N. Brewer
Tettnangter

Cascade
Magnum
Saazer

Gimmli (a dwarf variety - onlt 2 or 3 m high)

What made you pick Gimmli, Will? Trying something new, or had you heard about it, or are you a big LOTR fan?

Curiosity and the fact postage was included for an extra plant!

Might be good for people with limitted space

BTW whats LOTR?

Good enough reason for me.

LOTR is Lord of the Rings. Gimli (Son of Gloin) was a dwarf. Is a dwarf.
