I don't think many people do tbh.
I won't get into the whys and whynots. I'll just play a video on how you do it:

I have one of these filters, dont use it much.

oxidisation is the biggest problem hard mot to waste a lot of beer avoiding it.

Probably the best way to complete a good filter with no damage to the beer would be to first flood the filter with starsan and then use the beer to flush the starsan thus preventing any oxy pick up.

exact a mundo !

Thats the best way - but then follow it through -
you need to wait until no star san (or very little) is left in the filter, so you will lose 2-4 litres, and when you consider you are starting with 19 - thats a lot.

A few questions I've been wondering.

Why not just purge with co2?
Do you need a new filter every time?
How much is a replacement filter?

A quick answer
Yes
Yes sometimes
Alot.
Purging with co2 can work as well. Some filters will only work once because if you flush them they do not fully clear and you risk infection the next time you use it. They are not cheap and planning only one use can make them costly.
