Title: Gas bottle
Post by: bigvalen on August 30, 2014, 01:21:46 AM

I inherited a bunch of keg equipment..pipes, taps, keg adaptors and  CO2 bottle. The bottle looks to have a brewery stamp on it.

I've been thinking of getting in on the cornie keg multibuy...should I drop the bottle into a bar, and hope it makes its way home, or can they be refilled? I know with acetylene, most bottlers refuse to fill anything they don't own.

For my CO2 bottle (Male connection) I send it to a fire extinguisher man. Bit expensive as he has to charge pick up and drop off. The plus? It get's picked up empty and dropped off full. €45 for 7kg and del.

Where in the world are you? Drag it along to D and D in Dublin or Munster CO2

Best deal is A J Edge in Bray, usually €10 a fill. ( A Dart ride away )

Is it a CO2 bottle though?

CO2 Have a big Male Thread

Mixed gas (as they are called) are Female.

Mixed gas is very difficult to get re-filled. CO2 is much easier - any Fire Ex. company will do it.

If in doubt post a picture

This is the bottle. Looks to be near a metre high. Is it CO2 or mixed? An 8kg one ?

And so hard to get filled. Balls. Hoped it would reduce the cost of going cornie kegs on the multibuy. Another time :-)
