Poll
Question:
Pick the Friday's you're free in September
Option 1: 5th
votes: 5
Option 2: 12th
votes: 10
Option 3: 19th
votes: 4
Option 4: 26th
votes: 6
September?
Pick a Friday.
5, 12 and 19 good for me.
I guess some may be attending at the RDS, lucky feckers, but that aside I say sooner rather than later, but what do others (and FW) say?
12 is ok for me at this point
I've split this off from the August topic to avoid confusion. I've also added a poll. You can pick all 4 weeks if you are free.
Good idea the way the poll is set up.
Is there a way to see a poll on Tapatalk?
Tap on the 'menu' - three dots top right, then Web view.

I just had a browse through tapatalk's support forum and they don't support polls. A lot of people are asking for it but the general answer they appear to be getting is, "tapatalk is for keeping up with forums while on the move and should not be used as a replacement!" I'm guessing that adding polls to tapatalk is difficult then?
For anyone on tapatalk, just post what Fridays in September you are available. At the moment, the 5th and 12th are winning.
12th, I've a match to go to on Sunday................
Hi all, I'm new to the forum and new to HB, but I got the HB bug now and cannot stop :)
The forum is great help and full of info but it would be great to meet some people that know what they are doing... are meetings and brew days open to all members?

Yes, you're more than welcome :)
For the new members, the etiquette at the meets is something like follows:
1. Go to the bar and buy yourself a drink. Try buy at least 2 or 3 drinks during the night so we're not flahing the pub's hospitality!
2.
Come out the back and look for a group with bags of homebrew! Some will have NHC hoodies and T-shirts on. None of them will be clean shaven. You'll spot them easy enough. Go upstairs.
3. Go over and introduce yourself. They tend to be a friendly bunch.
4. That's it :) Enjoy.
Start time is around 8:00 - 8:30.... Anytime really.
Bring along some of your homebrew for tasting if you've got it. About 2 pint bottles should do.
11/09/14 - Edited to go upstairs.
+1

Here's a pic of one of the recent meetings, so you know what to expect!
Yes, I seem to recall Garry up on the Barrel at one point
Speaking of which...
We need to be thinking of emptying.
I try bring a sample to the meet ;)
I'll have 3 pints of sample please ;D

Have you had a snifter yet? Better be some left!
I haven't been next to near it Taf. I swear!

Are you at home now, as tempted to head out and check for myself!
Call away, I'm here :)
Ok, see you in 10 mins.
Phew! It passed the inspection :P
The main inspection was just in relation to it still being there! Very tasty though, and carries the 10 abv very well. Thought it might be a bit funky considering this is the 3rd batch of beer to go into this barrel. We can discuss what we are going to do with it at next meet, and consider what we might fill the barrel with.
yeah, it tastes great... allegedly...
Inspection seems to have lasted 53 mins. That's 2 pints each. Any left?
I'm sure there's plenty left, but I agree that we should empty it soon.
I don't think it'll get any better in the barrel at this point.
Any interest / point in a dry hop?
I'd say that dryhopping should be done individually afterwards if desired.

Definitely would benefit from dry hopping in my opinion.
By the way, if anyone is interested in some Wyeast 2001 Pilsener Urquell yeast I can bring a couple of vials along.
How long would those vials keep? I'd like to put on a lager for the winter.
I've got a jar of mangrove jacks Belgian yeast if anyone wants to give it a whirl?
I should have more in November if that suits better?
Yep. November would be better. Thanks :)
I have some hefeweizen yeast from the craft range wheat if anyone wants it. it's more 'clovey' than WB06 but similar.
Did I give you the Pilsner Urquell? I'd be interested in this myself.
Actually bought it. I've used WLP800 before but I thought I'd celebrate getting my stir plate and STC-1000 together by brewing a lager. Let me know when you'd like some johnrm - as I said I'll try to use it more than once.
hopefully i can make it to this months meeting. i have a belgian wheat beer i can bring to it. should be well ready now it was bottled early july
I've also got some oat hulls spare if any one needs some.
I might take some if they're going.
Might also bring along a bottle of Berlinerweisse I asked a friend who was visiting Berlin to pick up while he was over. Unfortunately it's flavoured with Woodruff syrup, which apparently is very common over there, but might be worth a taste.
Are we setting it for the 12th so?

You legend. I've been looking everywhere to try this and it's impossible to get.

It's unanimous -1! Eoghan is the only one who didn't vote for the 12th, sorry Eoghan :( You might still be able to pop in for an hour?
I assume it's the Franciscan Well? Taf, will you let Tom know or can you give me his number?
I'll send Dara & Alain a PM to let him know we'll be sampling the "lambic".
It looks like Alain has deleted his profile from the forum? I've sent him an email instead.
I tried phoning Alain for the last meet, no response either.
Looks like he's gone to ground.
I'm prepping for the 12th. I will hopefully have a simple Blonde ale. It WILL be green!
Anyone for some whole Crystal 150?
I'd be interested. Did ye get some of that wheat or munich in the end?
wanna swap some beer line for some wheat and munich? ;D
don't worry, you can have some anyway.
I'll be able to come along on the 12th, should be able to bring some of my pale ale if it isn't finished by then. Must start back into brewing soon, just back from America and spent the past few days cleaning my keezer, it got unplugged and built up a layer of mould.
I like the size of the glass of the dude on the left :)
So is it the Franciscan Well this Friday? What time?
It's usually 8:00 - 8:30 ish. Sure if you're too early, have a beer :)
Friday night it is so.

Just rang to confirm with the Well, and looks like John was already been on to them. They did mention that we will be upstairs, in case anyone is wondering where we are.
ooh fancy!
(or they're ashamed of us)
Not sure I like the upstairs bit.
Prefer the fireplace or outside in general, but seems they want to keep it separate from public.
them pesky public! i like upstairs.
seeing as it's private we might aswell get coke and hookers
I'd say johnrm's just afraid we'll use the flavor wheels up there to pinpoint the off-flavours in his brews. :D
BTW anyone else who wants some oat husks shout and I'l bring.

Probably expecting a lot of people tonight given the fine weather and that most students are back in college now. It will be busy in beer garden tonight! see ye later
I just had a phone call from Noel.
He'll sort a table for us out back rather than upstairs.
A much better affair.
I'll cancel the coke and hookers
They probably got a late booking for upstairs.
Just seen this, I've been exiled to Cork for a bit, so if you're happy to welcome a Dub I'll see yis later. Beerless I'm sorry say.
kev
upgraded to Cork!
Keep telling yourself that. :P
feckin blow-ins
Send the Franciscan well up to us and all is forgiven ;)
So is everyone still hungover? I'm sorry I couldn't make it yesterday, it would have been nice to meet you all. Things came up that made it impossible...
Hopefully next time!
We had a great turnout, some very tasty beers and great crack!
A few new faces. A few old faces :P And plenty of fine beers. It was good craic, and I wasn't even drinking.
god bless the students
enjoyed the meet guys, good bunch down here!
hopefully I'll be around for the next one too. Is it always the 2nd friday? or does it just depend on the month?
Good to meet you too Kevin.
The dates are a bit random, so keep an eye out here.
