Title: Paint Straining bag
Post by: Ciaran on October 01, 2014, 08:45:43 PM
Evening! Trying to build a hop spider for boiling pellet hops.  Would anyone know where I'd get a paint straining bag local to Belfast in a hurry? Tried b&q and a couple of small paint shops without any luck. Brewing tomorrow night and the muslin bags I have aren't cutting it so would like to give this a try. Isn't there some sort of curtain material people use instead? Anyone know what it's called- would you get it at that shop beside city hall?

Cheers

My wife goes to a material shop (paragon fabrics) on donegall pass which is good. Or there's one out at Kilroot (Craftswoman Fabrics & Products) which is bound to have something

Haha! My father-in-law summed it up perfectly when he said that if he dies and wakes up in a material shop he'll know he's gone to hell  ;D

:D I'll have to remember that one.

I second Paragon on Donegal Pass.  They do unbleached natural Muslin at a descent price.  I've used it for hop bags loads of times (though my wife usually ends up stealing most of it).  If you don't have time to stitch up a bag just cut a bigger square and tie it all together :)

Lads, can we draw the curtains on this thread, before the rest of the NHC sees?

"Material", "curtains", "voiles", "fabrics" and "unbleached natural muslin".........mmmmmmmmmmmm

No wonder Bazza has disowned us!
